Is it just me or the rugs I see in many of the foyers, rooms, and hallways that I encounter are either traditional Persian rugs or plain monotone or color blocked rugs? Where's the fun in that? There's a whole world out there where rugs can be fun and practically pieces of art that you can walk all over. Designers like Jonathan Adler and stores like CB2 have been creating fun rugs in response to all those dull dishrags out there. I don't know if it's true for every culture in the world, but I know in most Asian cultures it's incredibly rude to show up at a friend or family member's house completely empty handed.
