Cozy Up In Tweed Clothing And Accessories That Aren't So ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on ноя 18, 2009 10:19 AM PST
There's something about tweed that undeniably conjures up images of wintertime coziness... not to mention old-fashioned office attire and your grandma's go-to outfit for Sunday brunch. The good news is, however, that tweed has been updated to suit the styles of modern trends -- from platform pumps to boyfriend blazers -- and has expanded beyond its traditional use in plain ol' pea coats and conservative skirt suits. The great thing about the fabric is its ability to makes items still look office-appropriate without appearing stuffy, yet it can also be dressed up with metallic details for a night out, or thrown on last minute for an upgrade of your usual "just rolled outta bed" look. For some wintry-warm tweed pieces that are still totally on-trend, check out the slideshow!

Hot Leggings For Fall's Cold Weather

    image

Why not add a whole new meaning to the term "hot pants?" Most of the time, all we ask of our leggings is that they're comfortable and versatile enough to throw underneath our favorite tops. When the colder weather strikes, however, we need a lil' something extra if we plan on leaving the house. The blustery winds can be enough to make you want to wear nothing but sweats, but the change of season doesn't mean you need to sacrifice looking cute in order to stay warm. Whether you're sick of them or not, leggings aren't going anywhere soon, so while that's more than we can say about summer, we've got some cold-weather safe picks to add to your legging collection Heavier fabrics from jeans and sweater materials to velvet and suede are one way to keep your tush toasty. And don't underestimate simple additions such as patches, zips and buttons to give your garment just a little something extra when facing the fall. Regardless of temperature, any of this season's takes on the now-staple, skin-tight classic are bound to make you look hot: it's not about the warmth your leggings will bring you this upcoming season -- it's about the heat the new season will bring to your leggings to make you look hotter than ever!

New York Fashion Week Runway: Yigal Azrouel Makes Way For ...

    image

Israeli-born Yigal Azrouel is known for his signature body hugging silhouettes that make any woman feel sexy and sophisticated. His Fall 2009 collection is no different, but with a tougher edge. From legging-like leather stovepipe pants to effortless draped jersey dresses with exposed zippers and pin-studded handbags and pumps, Azrouel walked the line between edgy and feminine. One of my favorite looks was an all black ensemble with a sleeveless leather-like shirt paired with pencil skirt made of leather paillettes. Azrouel collaborated with jewelry Pamela Love who contributed claw earrings, leather and beaded cuffs, and cage rings. Beauty looks to emulate next fall include sleek hair (no flyaways or split ends in sight!) and extreme smoky charcoal eyes with nude lips. To see more looks from Yigal Azrouel's collection, click the slideshow.

Brave The Elements In A Cozy Chic Scarf!

    image

Thank God it's cold outside! This gives me a chance to rummage through my collection of scarves and wrap one around my neck to protect me from the elements. In fact, whenever it's just a bit brisk out, I bust out one of my scarves just so I can wear it. There's just something about a long piece of fabric wrapped around my neck that makes me feel so chic and refined. I especially like thick scarves €“ like that chunky Maison Martin Margiela knit masterpiece. If you want something a little more subdued, Gap is always a good resource for the classic stripes and American Eagle has this snazzy, modernized fair isle number. For all you stylish Che Guevara t-shirt wearing radicals out there, try the Psycho Bunny Beatles Revolution scarf on for size (it's cashmere so you will feel extra fancy). But if you really want something adventurous you can pay a visit to Hogwarts School of Wizardry for a nice souvenir Gryffindor scarf, perfect for a round of Quidditch. Okay, just joking. Here are some other scarves to keep you warm.

While a t-shirt with a lightweight scarf is undoubtedly a cute look, it may be time to pull out the heavier scarves in some colder climates. A warm scarf can actually be great gift for the holidays this winter - it's useful, fashionable, versatile, and one size fits all! And these days, scarves are definitely not boring. They come in all sorts of unexpected manifestations! Check out this faux fur neck warmer from Banana Republic and this Alexander Wang blazer with attached scarf. You can even find them with hoods or hats attached or with pockets! For a classic and luxurious version, try a Burberry check, a Missoni, a Loro Piana, or anything cashmere. Check out our picks in the SLIDESHOW, and give someone a scarf this holiday season!
