Be One With The Woodsmen And Warm Up In A Trapper Hat!

    image

I'm not gonna lie -- while the cozy cable knits and warm faux fur of a basic trendy trapper hat look too comfy to pass up, this winter's hottest accessory isn't necessarily for everyone. It takes a certain winter style to pull off this bundled-up woodsy look, especially since it can easily bring to mind childhood memories of getting wrapped up like a Christmas present every time you wanted to play outside. The key is to not take the trend too seriously -- treat trapper hats like a casually thrown-on accessory, instead of a frostbite-killing survival tactic. When added to a full-on set of snow gear, the look is a little more functionally overboard than fashionable, but with just a thermal and a pair of rosy cheeks the look is cute without looking costume-y or childish. Browse through the slideshow for a festive bunch of my favorite trapper hats!

Cozy Up In Tweed Clothing And Accessories That Aren't So ...

There's something about tweed that undeniably conjures up images of wintertime coziness... not to mention old-fashioned office attire and your grandma's go-to outfit for Sunday brunch. The good news is, however, that tweed has been updated to suit the styles of modern trends -- from platform pumps to boyfriend blazers -- and has expanded beyond its traditional use in plain ol' pea coats and conservative skirt suits. The great thing about the fabric is its ability to makes items still look office-appropriate without appearing stuffy, yet it can also be dressed up with metallic details for a night out, or thrown on last minute for an upgrade of your usual "just rolled outta bed" look. For some wintry-warm tweed pieces that are still totally on-trend, check out the slideshow!

Brrr! It's winter and if you're anything like me, you've forgotten just how cold these next few months can ge. While winter means holiday cheer, thermal long johns and hot cocoa, it also means icy snow, frost-tinged temperatures and higher heating bills. Fend off the chill with warm and cozy accents around the house that are cute, comfy and keep you snug as a bug in a rug! A few choice pieces transform your home into a winter haven that you'll never want to leave! Soft flannels and thick rugs help keep the heat at home, while plush throws and cloud-like comforters are perfect to hibernate under and sip on hot cider. Click on the slideshow for some cuddly home accessories that will keep you cozy and your home stylish throughout the winter months!

Comfy Cashmere Sweaters Without The Campy Christmas Prints

Sure, cashmere is soft and luxurious -- just the kind of warm-weather material we crave during the cold winter months. But for some reason, whenever I think of the idea of a cashmere sweater, I can't help but be haunted by my childhood memories of unwrapping my Christmas gift from Grandma and finding (to my utter dismay) a chunky cable-knit creation with a dilapidated Christmas tree on its front. However, now that I'm old enough to appreciate (and prefer) clothing gifts in place of toys, I know that there's more to cashmere than ugly holiday prints and Abercrombie & Fitch pull-overs with a sewn-on moose logo. Switch out your sweatshirt hoodie with a cashmere version from Free People that's still casual but way more cozy. Or, if you're not afraid to look festive, this embellished LaROK cardigan isn't too kitschy, but it's still snazzy enough for a low-key holiday party. Summer's Over, But You Can Still Wear Shorts!

The weather has started to turn chilly these days and I'm super excited to be pulling my fun tights and leggings to pair with my tunic tops, skirts and dresses. But lately I've been wanting more winter wardrobe options than what I currently have. The solution is actually quite simple. Winter shorts (usually made of wool, tweed, or heavier cotton blends) are a fun way to bare your legs even during the colder months. While it's still a little warm, you can wear them without anything underneath but once the winter chill takes over, then it's time to start layering with tights or leggings. One of my favorites is the Wool Flannel Short from J.Crew. For something a little more appropriate for nighttime, I've been obsessed with the Silence & Noise Sequin Tap Short from Urban Outfitters. Take a look at my slideshow for more winter shorts!

Leather Gloves Of All Lengths To Suit Anyone's Winter Style!

If you've been procrastinating on gift shopping and instead have been stocking up on your own winter wear (hey -- a girl's gotta keep warm), don't forget to keep your digits protected from the cold too! For the wintry months ahead, leather is migrating from moto jackets to accessories and is starting to replace knits and cashmere in the realm of cozy hand-warmers. Fingerless gloves are all over the place (okay, so maybe they're more for fun than function) but you can put your own spin on the trend with studs or chains. Or, for an updated take on Old Hollywood glamour, opt for a longer pair a la Audrey Hepburn (though hers weren't luxe leather like these!). No matter what your style, you're bound to find your perfect pair among this season's varied selection! Browse through my favorites in the slideshow!
