Runway Wrap-Up: Stylehive's Top 10 Looks From New York ...

Despite the mayhem that Fashion Week always brings upon us over here at the Hive, even from all the way across the country, we have to say we are a little sad to see it go. I mean, now what are we supposed to do? Sit around drooling until next spring when all of these gorgeous summery pieces finally hit the stores? In the meantime, we can take comfort in the fact that based on the designers' Spring/Summer collections, the forecast for next year is undoubtedly hot, hot, hot! Looking back on all of the runway parades we've covered in the past couple weeks, we can't help but notice the abundance of fun party frocks -- from Christian Siriano's tiered ruffles to Zac Posen's neon sheaths -- and the welcome resurgence of bright, cheerful hues (after all, what's more springy than color?) that seem to insist that high-impact shades are clearly going to be the new black! As for the late-night dance-floor hoppers, who can forget Whitney Port's designer debut with all of those slinky metallic numbers? And while the celebrity attendance record may have been abysmal (aside from the usual Anna Wintour and Rachel Zoe sightings), I'm sure the starlets will still be rocking these runway looks on the red carpet come spring! Take a look at the slideshow to reminisce with us over the Fashion Week highlights!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Whitney Eve

    image

For her Spring/Summer 2010 Whitney Eve collection, Whitney Port seemed to use herself as a muse. Every single looked screamed "Whitney" and for someone like me who adores Whitney's style, that's definitely a good thing! This collection merged a downtown New York edge with a sweet and sunny California girl sensibility. Just like Whitney, it was very eclectic, funky, and had a retro reference point which was re-interpreted to create a modern feel. I absolutely died over this one slinky, metallic number! Other standouts included a cut-out brocade mini dress with a bow accent (such a great way to balance naughty and nice!) and a strapless full-skirted black dress with layers of tulle peeping through. Almost every style was adorned with ultra femme accents -- ruffles, bows, tulle, lace -- but the sweetness was definitely offset by sexy silhouettes and styles. Whitney also presented some fabulous separates, including a sharp-shouldered peplum jacket, a black blazer updated with layered of ruffles, and an oversized metallic blazer. Overall, anyone who loves Whitney's style will absolutely flip over all the pieces in her Whitney Eve line -- check the slideshow to see for yourself!

Designer Elite And Their Muses Shine At The CFDA Fashion Awards

    image

The CFDA Fashion Awards is one of the few red carpet occasions where A-listers not only wear their favorite designers' dresses, but actually arrive with their favorite designer linked to their elbow! And while the star-studded event, which took place at New York's Lincoln Center and was hosted by funny gal Tracy Ullman, was certainly dedicated to honoring fashion design's finest, the arrival parade highlighted both designers and their famous fans alike. Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, and sister design duo Rodarte were among the night's top winners, while celebrity-couturier pairings like Heidi Klum with Michael Kors and Claire Danes with Narciso Rodriguez, along with other solo arrivals, made the canopy entrance a stylish star-studded sight to behold. Take a look at the slideshow for some of the night's most notable attendees! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Best Dressed Celebs Leighton Meester, Lauren Conrad And More ...

At the MTV Movie Awards (Oscar's red-headed cousin thrice-removed), the "Twilight" team won a zillion awards, host Andy Samberg sang an ode to turning one's back on explosions, Sacha Baron Cohen "offended" Eminem, and ... yadda yadda. What about the clothes? We were glued to the red carpet to see the latest in celeb styles. While there were some misses such as Kristen Stewart pairing a gorgeous Yigal Azrouel dress with Converse sneakers, there were quite a few hits too. Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell went (very) LBD, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port were a study in contrasts, and Leighton Meester -- well, all you Blair Waldorf fans are going to have to see it to believe it. Nary a headband to be seen! Check out our friends at SoapNET for a slideshow of their favorite looks.

Blue Nails: Love It Or Loathe It?

    image

A few years ago, we all fell hard for Chanel's black nail polish. Celebs started sporting this goth color and soon it spread faster than the H1N1 virus. But can they cause another nail craze again? Come summer, most of us turn to bright pinks, corals and reds when we head into the nail salon (if we head in at all); however, this summer may be different. Recently, there has been quite the stir in the nail salons across the country -- stars such as Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus have been encouraging the masses to sport blue nails! The colors have ranged from a dark navy to teal blue (a la little Miss Cyrus at last weekend's MTV Movie Awards), but the real question is, are you prepared to go blue this summer? Hippie Headbands: Boho Chic, Or A Recipe For A Bad Hair Day?

    image

I'm all about headbands. They save us from bad hair days and add a bit of preppy flair when needed. Yet there is one headband trend that has some people as divided as Red Sox and Yankees fans. That trend is the horizontal hippie headband look. We saw this trend starting last spring, and it still seems to be going strong. Repeat offenders include Ashlee Simpson, Nicole Richie, Whitney Port and Mischa Barton. Barton has even struck up a partnership with headband designer Stacey Lapidus, making, you guessed it... bejeweled hippie headbands. They have the unfortunate effect of making your hair look like a mushroom cap and make even the coolest hipster look they are trying too hard. Clearly, I'm not a fan, but what do you think of the hair-raising trend?
