Make A Statement With A Bib Necklace For Spring!

    image
Pauline Montupet on May 22, 2009 10:23 AM PDT
The last time bibs were this cool I was still in a high chair drinking from a sippy cup. But times have changed and this spring, the fashion world has taken on a decidedly grown-up accessory trend: the bib necklace. The statement necklace has gotten a little bit bolder and was a key piece of jewelry in this season's shows, showing up at Vera Wang, Chanel, Marni and Burberry. From itty bitty bibs to full-blown breastplates, there are tons to choose from. Pick a worldly looking beaded collar like Erickson Beamon's "Ring of Stars" choker for a well-traveled ethnic look. For vintage lovers there is the "Big Clermont" necklace by Thea Grant that resembles old jeweled broaches, and if you're on a budget try the "Spring Flora" necklace from Forever 21. Looking for something less 1901 and more like 2021? For a futuristic feel, pick large candy colored plastic beads like Malene Berger's multicolor necklace or a geometric breastplate from Missoni. Whatever you choose, just be sure to keep the neckline of your top is simple or bare...you don't want anything taking away from your signature piece for the season. I€™ve never been the type to want the traditional princess wedding gown. There will be no sweetheart neckline tulle overlay dress at my wedding. Where does a girl like me go to find wedding attire, something more edgy than your run of the mill Vera Wang? Net-a-porter.com, my go to site for all things designer, has now opened its e-doors to its wedding boutique! They have your wedding day covered, stocked with everything you need as a bride, for your bridesmaid and even for the mother of the bride. Floor length Phillip Lim and Marchesa gowns that can be paired beautifully with metallic Louboutins and Phillip Crangi drop earrings that just scream chic are just some of the things you'll find, but they didn€™t stop there! They also have plenty of little naughty lingerie pieces and some great resort picks for a beach bound honeymoon. While there may not be wedding bells in my near future, I have plenty of weddings to attend- five and counting this summer! And they have that covered too. With easy navigation tabs like beach, country, day and evening, it€™s easy to find the perfect dress for any wedding you're attending. And as usual you can always call one of their fashion advisors free of charge if you have any questions or simply need some extra help. Click the slideshow to see more.

Hathaway And Hudson Go To "War" Over Wang In Bride Wars!

    image
    Dino-Ray Ramos on Jan 12, 2009 7:18 AM PST
In the movie Bride Wars, actresses Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson play Emma and Liv, two BFFs who accidentally get their weddings scheduled on the same day. Instead of trying to solve it like adults, they do something better: they get into a catty feud trying to sabotage each other's weddings. Bad tans, blue hair, dance contests at male strip clubs and vengeful weight gain are all involved. Needless to say, hilarity ensues €“ and so do fabulous wedding gowns! Costume designer Karen Patch collaborated with the fab wedding gown goddess Vera Wang to create their dresses for their dueling big days. Emma (Hathaway) dons her mother's off-the-shoulder taffeta gown, while Liv (Hudson) goes for a modernized confection of a classic dress with a lace bodice and a layers upon layers of tulle. Emma's dress echoes a gown from Vera Wang's Spring '06 collection, while Liv is almost a match to a piece from Fall '05. Even though the two dresses aren't straight off the runway, they have Wang and Patch are written all over them!

Hive Exclusive: Enter To Win A Gryson Handbag From Gilt Groupe!

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Jan 7, 2009 7:22 AM PST
There was a time when I would have moved to New York just for the sample sales, but with the discovery of one golden web site, the idea of scrambling all over the city in search of that one legendary piece, the one that would surely be worth all of the wasted lunch breaks and downtown-or-else cab fares just didn't seem so appealing anymore. I have Gilt Groupe to thank for that! Founders and close friends Alexis Maybank and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson created Gilt Groupe after realizing the New York sample sale scene had overwhelming potential for success on an online platform where anyone could have access to designer goods at brag-worthy prices. With 15 to 20 sales per week and a roster of designer offerings from Zac Posen to Vera Wang, and reminder emails to keep members up-to-date on the latest Gilt sales, it's clear that Alexis and Alexandra know what savvy shoppers really want- and it doesn't necessarily involve an NYC zip code. We spoke to co-founder Alexandra about how Gilt Groupe got its start, designers and sales she'd love to see featured, and what sets Gilt apart from the rest- click READ MORE to catch the exclusive interview, and find out how you can enter to win a Gryson handbag (an $855 value!) from Stylehive and Gilt Groupe!
