Bagtrends Is Loving Matt And Nat's "Camden" Bag!

    image

You know I'm not a fan of the shoulder bag-- handheld is my preference. But, every now and then a good shoulder bag-- provided it has that all important flat base, no loosy-goosy hobos for this bagista-- is worth a second look. This Matt and Nat Camden Bag in Coffee gets a second look from me. First off, it's another eco brand aside from Vegan Queen that I actually like 100%. From their wallets to their large duffle bags, Matt & Nat never misses a bag-a-licious step. And, their prices are mostly under the $300 mark, something we can all appreciate today. The crinkled texture give this material an almost origami-like feel. And, come to think of it, if I recall from their preview that there was a whole origami theme for the season. Finally, the true chocolate color is darn near edible! Let me know what you think in comments!

Bag of the Week: Vegan Queen's "The Queen Goes Green" Tote

I recently completed a story for AOL on eco-totes that are meant to replace plastic grocery bags, and working on it was an eye-opening experience. Yes, I know plastic bags sit in dumps forever €“ well actually, for 10,000 years before they break down. But did you know that the world consumption of plastic bags is over 4 trillion, of which 14 billion is US use alone? Oh, and only 1 percent of those plastic bags are actually recycled. Many end up on the ground, get washed away, birds tangle in them, marine life is affected. It's very scary, but not a problem we can't solve. Click READ MORE for a bag that's all about helping.

We introduced you to the handbag line Vegan Queen last week when Bagtrends editor Pamela Pekerman informed us that she's lusting after the super-chic, sustainably-produced Eco IT Satchel. So what's a girl to do when she's obsessed with a handbag? Interview the designer, of course! Bagtrends caught up with Evelina, the brains behind the eco-luxurious label, and discussed her vegan lifestyle, the inspiration behind the line, the trends she loves, and of course, just who a Vegan Queen really is! Hint: She lives in an eco-castle. Get to know Evelina too by catching the interview here!

I'm no vegan, nor am I a PETA lover €“ in fact they hate me. (Trust me you should have heard how they yelled at me and my coat during the last fashion week in New York!) Were I to become a vegan, I would have a very difficult time finding a handbag to quench my bag-a-licious thirst€¦ that is until recently. Vegan followers and eco-conscious divas rejoice, Vegan Queen, a new line of handbags that marries sustainability with fashion-forward design has come to the rescue. The designer, Evelina, is a former model and vegan devotee who realized that there was nothing at the high-end level of handbags that fit into her lifestyle. (Sorry, Stella McCartney just doesn't do it for me.)
