Flirt Shamelessly This Season With Fall's Spiky Lashes

    image
Alex Gambardella on Oct 1, 2009 2:25 PM PDT
I've always been a serious eyeliner girl, collecting everything from smoky kohl pencils in every color to budge-proof creme liner pots to liquid glitter liner. But my most recent beauty obsession? Spiky lashes -- either blacked-out versions of your natural lashes, or a little added help from a handy set of falsies like Kim Kardashian's. Unlike thick, showgirl-esque, llama-looking lashes that focus on heavy volume, fall's take on the lash trend gives you dramatic length without verging on unnatural. In other words, you'll have people commenting on how jealous they are of your flirty peepers instead of asking if you just walked off a Vegas stage. Take a look at the slideshow to browse some products that'll help you get your lashes long and spiky! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Hot In The Hive: Golden Sparkle Sauce

    image
Alex Gambardella on Sep 16, 2009 6:35 AM PDT
I know, the name sounds delicious... but you can't eat this sauce! Golden Sparkle Sauce by Pop Beauty comes in what appears to be a puff paint squeeze tube, but it's actually a powerful weapon in maintaining smudge-free eye makeup! The shimmery substance can be applied as a layer on your lid over shadow and liner to seal eye makeup for a twinkling waterproof finish, or it can be mixed with loose glitter or pigment to serve as a long-lasting adhesive for otherwise hard-to-apply loose powder. The result? Budge-proof shadow and liner with a little dash of extra dazzle. Sparkling magic in a bottle!

    Price: $10
Who Found It: xgalexy was the first to add Golden Sparkle Sauce to the Hive.

Summer's here (as of yesterday, officially!) and no matter how makeup-savvy we are, the warm weather always seems to put a damper on whatever we put on our face. When it's hot and sweaty outside, it's not only harder to muster up the energy to go all-out with our application, but the makeup we do pile on always seems to end up elsewhere after a productive hour or two. Lucky for you, Stylehive's Stylescopes say you're destined to look beautiful no matter what ulterior plans your messy products and the weather may have for you. The stars predict that low-maintenance beauty is the way to go, and we've got a slew of must-have products for every sign that can help you stay looking fresh without all the fuss of having to use your entire makeup bag. Sagittarius ladies are fated to fall in love with a pair of fail-proof Tweezerman tweezers and Leos will learn how to carry their favorite fragrance on the go, just for example! Check the slideshow to which beauty necessity you'll find vital in the week (and season) ahead!

Portable Beauty Products For Glamming On The Go!

    image
Alex Gambardella on Mar 31, 2009 3:25 PM PDT
If you were to take a look into my purse, you'd realize instantly that it's actually just my makeup bag in disguise, crammed to the zipper with all kinds of cumbersome, clunky products and their accompanying brushes that I threw in at the last-minute for use in a makeup emergency that never actually happens, or in the rare occurrence in which I would find myself forced to open up my own MAC counter in the middle of the street at any given moment. The truth is, I only end up actually using a select few of the whole array of knick-knacks I haul along with me every day, and even though I come across plenty of opportunities for touch-ups at various points in my daily routine, less than half of the tools and products are actually practical for portable use while on a bumpy bus ride or while standing in line for coffee with your hands full. Luckily, plenty of our favorite beauty brands have caught on to this busy-girl dilemma and have developed "to-go" versions of their most popular must-have beauty basics, making their products much more travel-friendly (no brushes or applicators required!), genuinely usable anytime anywhere, and overall much more low-maintenance! With conveniently sleek nail polish pens by OPI, self-sharpening lip pencils, and even a wireless mini flat iron, you'll find yourself saving room in your purse and your makeup bag, not to mention looking your best the whole day through! St. Patrick's Day Makeup That Won't Have You Looking Like A ...

This St. Patrick's Day, even if your closet isn't loaded with wearable green pieces to choose from, you can still avoid those pesky pinchers by incorporating shades of green into your beauty regime for the day! I realize that for the more demure makeup mavens the idea of wearing Irish pride on your face sounds a bit risky, as green makeup tends to evoke scary images of personas like Poison Ivy and senile old ladies with lime green shadow up to their eyebrows. However, given the many different products and variety of formulas from sheer and shimmery to bright concentrated pigments, not to mention the large spectrum of clover-inspired shades to choose from, it's actually super simple to incorporate green into your makeup routine, no matter how subtle or striking you'd like the look to be. Bolder beauties can slick a sparkly green Sally Hansen lacquer on their nails and even attempt to pull of MAC's green-tinted lipglass (trust me -- it's not as crazy as it sounds)! Or, if lime green really isn't your thing, play up their peepers with a festive version of the smokey eye using dark forest green shadow by Nars in place of charcoal. As long as you don't try to wear all of these products at once, you'll likely find that bright emerald and grassy shades don't have to be tacky. While you probably won't end up stumbling upon a pot of gold this year, you might just be lucky enough to discover a flattering new eye-popping color that's wearable enough to incorporate into your cosmetics for any day of the week! Check out the slideshow for more shamrock-like makeup shades!

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Jun 8, 2008 10:16 AM PDT
While I could easily spend hours upon hours combing, clicking through, and ultimately purchasing (ha, I wish) all of the products that sephora.com and every other beauty website have to offer, that's simply unrealistic. That's why People Stylewatch has chosen the top 45 get-glam glosses, glitters, tools, and tints to keep you looking fresh-faced and fashionable. On my list-- Butter London's perfectly blended, toxin-free nail colors (Kate Moss and Mandy Moore are fans), Tweezerman's animal print tweezers (too cool to pass up and I'm sure my old pair is dull by now), and Benefit's new shade 'Posietint'- I've been a fan of the original, Benetint, for years now.. it's time for an update! Whether you need your beauty fix or just want to see what's hot in the beauty world, you're sure to find something to crave. Click on over to Stylewatch to see their editors' picks, and tell us which ones you want to try!
