Style Flashback: Buffy From "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"

    image
Alex Gambardella on Nov 2, 2009 5:23 AM PST
Goth never looked quite as good as it did on Sarah Michelle Gellar as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." She kicked some serious butt with some serious style. Buffy rocked black and leather like nobody's business, and the sultry bad-girl look she sported on the show landed her one of the hottest vampires on the small screen (we love you, Angel). We wanted some tips on how to re-create Buffy's look, and Lemondrop's fashion expert Brian answered the call. Brian says, "Buffy was edgy without being too over the top; sexy without showing too much skin -- and that's the reason she was always so stylin'. She straddled the line between kick-ass vampire slayer and regular teenager by mixing textures and styles to create a unique, am-I-dangerous-or-not look." Click over to Lemondrop to see how you can update her iconic 90s look.

Which CW Starlet Looked The Hottest At Teen Vogue's Young ...

Somehow Teen Vogue's annual Young Hollywood Party seemed so much more laid-back without having to watch Lauren Conrad run around backstage on the verge of tears like a chicken with its head cut off. While I'm sure there were plenty of other interns slaving behind the wings making sure it all ran smoothly, the event was much more enjoyable from our view on the red carpet. After all, what's a Teen Vogue party without the chance to really check out the entrance ensembles! With all the black, chrome, and grey dresses and pantsuits, I couldn't help but ask myself, has fall finally arrived, or is everyone just feeling "blah" tonight? And also, who are some of these people? I had to give credit to CW's newest bad girl, Katie Cassidy, for brightening the mood with a seriously colorful corseted number... while her fellow station-pals Jessica Stroup and AnnaLynne McCord kept it cool in monochrome. Vote below on which CW actress repped her re-make show the best on the red carpet! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Nelly Furtado Explores Her Fashion Mishaps On MTV's "What ...

We all have a few outfits we've worn in the past that, when confronted with the pictures, makes us want to burn every piece that went into the outfit along with all the photos in a big evidence-ridding bonfire. Who hasn't scrolled through photos of themselves on Facebook and with a quick click of the "remove tag" button thought, "What was I thinking?!" Luckily for us non-famous folk, our fashion mishaps and momentary lapses of judgment aren't printed on every newsstand tabloid, paraded on national television, or discussed in Twitter trending topics. On MTV's web series, "What Were U Thinking?" famous fashionistas like Kim Kardashian and Kristin Cavallari get a chance to defend their style choices, give praise to designers, make fun of their own faux pas, and provide us insight into some of their biggest "WWUT?" moments (for example, was Nelly's "I'm Like a Bird" get-up for real?!). Click "See Video" to watch the show's most recent guest, Nelly Furtado, dish on her favorite funky wardrobe highs and lows, then click over to the show's official site to see past guests' episodes and the show's October 12th finale with "Twilight's" Ashley Greene.

Lo Bosworth Dishes On Style And The New Season Of The Hills!

Lo Bosworth's most memorable quip about fashion may be "I have not found a cute white dress, like, ever. They're all trashy and tacky." This, of course, was spoken right before the screen cuts to a shot of Kristin Cavallari in a clingy sleeveless eggshell number (meow!). Die-hard watchers will remember that infamous scene from Season 1 of "Laguna Beach," where we were first introduced to much of the cast that now makes up "The Hills" milieu. Now, it's been five years... has Lo managed to ever find a decent white dress? "I have!" she laughed during our interview last week. "I just got a great white shift dress from Topshop that's beautifully decorated with little black beads all over it. White doesn't really do great things for me from behind, though." Her candidness and reversal of judgment demonstrate a lot about her. Loyal but level-headed, the Laguna/Hills star may have strong opinions but isn't inflexible about viewing them from another angle. It's that same distinct yet laidback quality that also marks her personal style, which I happen to love -- easy yet elegant. Her wardrobe must-haves? "I like to really combine high-end with low-end stuff, especially things that are more 'evening' with others that are more casual," she shares. "[My style] is a good representation of a lot of LA fashion, and fashion just in Southern California: jeans, an amazing leather jacket, and a great blouse, purse, and heels... it's a good look: casual and just easy." I also asked Lo about stylists (she doesn't use one and puts her looks together mostly on her own), favorite designers (Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Lanvin), and beauty obsessions (her new Shu Uemura sheer orange lip gloss). So will Lo, who's just been given FLING Chocolate's first-ever "Best Fling" honor for "her confidence in being naughty, but not that naughty," be getting up to any trouble on the new season of "The Hills?" "For the next few episodes of the show, you're going to see me moderating between a lot of people. I try not to get too involved in the drama and be the calm between the storms!" Let's see: that's "moderating," "drama," and "storms" all in one description. Yep -- sounds like "The Hills" is back! Tune in to MTV for the season premiere on Tuesday, September 29 at 10pm! Vintage Fashionistas Embrace "Mad Men" Style

    image
Mary Kincaid on Sep 18, 2009 10:16 AM PDT
Once upon a time, women sat around on Sunday nights sipping cocktails and tuning in to their favorite fashion friends on Sex and the City. But whether you were more of a Samantha or a Carrie type doesn't matter anymore because there's a whole new gang of girls in town. The new fashionistas to watch are the girls of the hit series Mad Men. The buxom Joan Holloway, the poised Betty Draper, and the spunky Peggy Olsen don't just entertain us but allow us to feast our eyes on the fabulous designs of yesteryear, coordinated by the show's talented costume designer, Janie Bryant. Pair the dresses walking down the halls of Sterling Cooper with period pumps and handbags and you'll look a bit dated, but it's easy to glam them up 2009-style with tights, belted cardigans or ankle boots. Now just click the slideshow for some vintage delights for Mad Men fans.

Stylehive Predicts Cycle 13's Top 3 Before ANTM Even Starts!

    image

Finally, the shorties get their shot at the title! If you're like me and have been counting down the days to the premiere of America's Next Top Model's most talked-about season yet, then I probably don't even have to tell you that Cycle 13, which features models who are 5'7" and under, starts tomorrow night at 8 on the CW. And while I'll be the first to admit that I was pretty terrible at predicting last season's top 3 (well, one of them made it!), that doesn't mean I'm going to give up! After carefully scrutinizing the contestant profiles on the CW site, along with a very thorough analysis of past winners (thanks to nonstop ANTM marathons on various cable channels), I think I've made a much more educated guesstimation of this upcoming season's Top 3. Check out the model bios and interviews at The CW, then click "Read More" to view my predictions and see if you agree! Photo Credit: CWtv.com
