We've extended "The Hunt" for another week, so there's still plenty of time to play! Read on to learn how you can win one of three shopping sprees at eVanity.com, just by bookmarking between now and November 27th!

Just because we shop on a budget (or let's be honest, try to) doesn't mean we want to look like everyone else! While we all have our go-to mall spots for deals, it's nice to come away with something every once in awhile that doesn't scream "fresh off the clearance rack." And that's where eVanity.com comes in! The trendy retailer, featuring Vanity-brand clothing lines and more, is directed at teens, but there's something for everyone, from the plaid-loving princess to the girly girl and of course, the vampire-obsessed- you know who you are! Oh, and those $2 tank tops and $10 jeans? Don't mind if we do! There's even an ECOista section, full of organic cotton and bamboo tops and bottoms for the consciously chic. We're giving eVanity.com online shopping sprees to the top three winners in Stylehive's "The Hunt" contest. Entering is easy- just go to eVanity.com, bookmark your favorite Vanity items, and encourage others to hive your items as well by sending messages to your followers. If your bookmark is one of the top three most popular at the end of the contest, you win! First place wins a $250 shopping spree, second place wins $150 to shop, and third place receives a $100 shopping spree credit -- all on eVanity.com. Throughout the week you can check and see who's in the lead. Read the full contest rules for more information. You must be a Stylehive member to play, so click here to register for free and start hiving! The contest ends next Friday, November 27. Good luck!

These Platform Pumps Make It Chic To Be Square!

    image

Pointed, rounded, almond, peep toe... you may think you've got your bases covered when it comes to shoe shopping, but there's a new style on the block that's ready to take over. Square toe platform pumps are popping up everywhere lately -- designer and bargain brands alike -- and are bringing that ballerina-inspired pointe shoe look to the style scene. The flattened toe provides a vintage feel, especially if you go Mad Men style with a pencil skirt, while the platform gives the look a modern edge. Be careful when indulging in this trend, though -- if you're looking to elongate your legs, you might not want to throw out all your pointed pumps and replace them with their snubbed-toe counterpart! However, all you leggy girls can lust after the trend without fear! Of course, your credit card may have reason to fret if you go overboard... check the slideshow to see a selection of hot square-toed platforms!

Velvet Is Back, And It's Here To Stay!

When I hear the word velvet I think of three things- red velvet cake, the '90s and Stevie Nicks (not necessarily in that order!). Lately though it seems that velvet has entered my fashion vocabulary in a way that isn't making me cringe -- it's fashion forward, colorful, and surprisingly cool. This fall, the fuzzy fabric goes way beyond the basic little velvet blazer or velveteen rabbit bow headband. Marc Jacobs origami-folded bright yellow velvet into '80s space-age bustiers and dresses. Ralph Lauren gave us neutral toned draped jodhpur pants and Miuccia Prada incorporated hints of velvet into tweed skirts and jackets. If you must go the blazer route, try a different shape like Surface to Air's 'Bleys' jacket or go for a slouchy version like Gryphon's smoking jacket. Alexander Wang peppered his runway show with black velvet, in a super rock and roll way; try the cool oversized vest for a totally unexpected velvet touch. Still scared of all the heavy fabric and shine? You can still stick to a touch of velvet with a cute pair of ballet flats. For more ideas for wearing velvet, check out the slideshow.

Striped Tees And Accessories Make Looking Chic A Snap!

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Oct 29, 2009 8:22 AM PDT
If you took a peek inside my closet, you'd notice two main things: a stack of little/medium/big brown bags that I should probably hide, and an abundance of stripes- striped tees, striped cardigans, striped sweaters, and maybe even a striped scarf or two. Needless to say I'm convinced you can never really have too many striped pieces, and as far as versatile classics go, stripes are easily my favorite. Whether you go for an original nautical staple from Saint James or a contemporary update from Splendid, a well-fitting striped top is the easiest route to chic simplicity and really couldn't be more effortless. If patterned tops aren't really your thing, a striped handbag is equally stylish -- an iconic hobo from Bendel's is playful and luxurious to boot. Feeling adventurous? Pair your stripes with another print, like florals (a la this look snapped by Garance Dore). See more striped tees and accessories in my slideshow!
