Get The Beautiful, Bare-Faced Abaete Makeup Look

I love going backstage before fashion shows to talk to hair stylists and makeup artists about the beauty looks they will be creating and to watch it all come together. For the Abaete Fall 2009 presentation, Beauty.com makeup artist Tina Turnbow created a very minimal, no-makeup look that had an old world masculinity meets modern day femme feel to it. The models' complexions were polished and bare with little makeup, a glossy eyelid, washed out brows, and a pale lip. I got the chance to chat with Tina, who used Tarte cosmetics, before the show to get the scoop on exactly how to re-create this soft and subtle look.

For the Vena Cava Spring 2009 collection, designers Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai went for an "Egyptomania" theme with a gothic, mid-seventies twist inspired by movies like Lucifer Rising. From the clothes that had the phrase €˜I want this RIGHT NOW€™ playing over and over in my head to the smoldering makeup to the sleek and slightly undone hair styles, I absolutely loved every single aspect of this killer presentation. While we€™re gonna have to test our patience and wait a few months before we can snag the clothes, we CAN replicate the hair and makeup looks right now! I got the chance to hang backstage before the show to get the scoop on how to recreate the looks. Click READ MORE for a step-by-step guide!

The Charlotte Ronson Spring 2009 collection gave 90s grunge a modern spin with fun, youthful styles with a rebellious twist. Fittingly, the makeup look was inspired by early Madonna- strong brows, smoldering eyes, and contoured cheeks for a grungy, sexy, undone look. I got the chance to hang backstage before the show to see how Beauty.com makeup artist Tina Turnbow created the look. Click READ MORE for a step-by-step guide to replicate this smokin€™ style.

Makeup artists can seriously be magicians sometimes. They just whip out their bag of tricks, throw a bunch of stuff together, and all of a sudden you look like the most fabulous version of yourself. Have you ever tried to follow them step by step? It€™s almost impossible! Fortunately, I am now in the position where I get to meet the magicians themselves, and luckily for us, they€™re nicer than the real magicians, and more than willing to share their secrets. Just because fashion week is over doesn€™t mean we can€™t still talk about it and try to re-create the sexy new makeup styles we fell in love with. Runway shows are so much more than just the clothing. Every aspect, from the hair, to the makeup, to the nail polish color is carefully considered and serve to enhance the underlying theme or message of the latest collection. It€™s pretty amazing to consider that something as small as makeup palette could change the entire tone and vibe of a collection.
