Gap's Latest CFDA Collab: Alexander Wang!

    image

Got Alexander Wang taste on a Gap budget? Soon, you'll actually be able to do something about it- something that doesn't involve eBay and shady Forever21 knockoffs. Following in the footsteps of previous Gap collabs like Pierre Hardy, threeASFOUR, and Phillip Lim, Wang will debut his Gap collection in stores on June 16. So what can we expect the guru of grunge to do with a traditional white shirt? Absolutely nothing, according to Gap's Executive Vice President of Design, Patrick Robinson. The collection instead will focus on khaki, and as of now the standout piece will be a khaki motorcycle jacket that will retail for under $100. I'm not sure what's more distant, the last time I wore khaki or the last time I set foot in the store (even though it's on every corner), but who knows, maybe I'll be falling into Gap for some cheapy collab action. Will you? [Teen Vogue via Fashionologie]

Sony's Live Mannequins Descend On New York Fashion Week, Tiny ...

After Vivienne Tam's models carried mini special edition HP laptops as clutches during her Spring/Summer show at New York Fashion Week in September, we had a feeling we hadn't seen the last of the fashionably marketed tech toys- and we were right! As the countdown to the Fall/Winter shows begins, Sony is sending models to various New York City settings, toting the new VAIO Lifestyle PCs while showing off the latest from Elise Overland, Threeasfour, Libertine, and Katy Rodriguez. So if you happen to be window shopping in Midtown today and spot a group of impeccably dressed women acting strangely robotic with laptops in hand, go ahead and stare- it's like one of those artsy television commercials, except live and kind of awkward. You can even track the models on Sony's web site and watch video footage of them at each location. Strange? Yes, but this is NYC, and Fashion Week no less, and strange is to be expected.

    Editor's Pick: Neon + Neutral = Now!

We've all been well informed that this season is ALL about color. From super bold shades to ultra subdued hues, it€™s not what you wear, it€™s the colors you wear it in! The clear favorite from the crayon box this season was yellow, especially blinding shades of day-glo neon - which illuminated just about every spring runway show. To keep from looking like a walking highlighter, take a cue from fashion big-wigs like ThreeasFour, Nanette Lepore, and Phillip Lim, and tame your blaring yellow ensembles with subdued separates in neutral shades. The blending is so harmonious, designers are now removing the middle man and creating single pieces using these contrasting tones. Check out my SLIDESHOW for awesome ways to get your neon+neutral on!

Color Queue: Go on a Blue Streak!

I already know what you're thinking... blue eyeshadow is so seventies, right? Cheap, not chic? Well read on, because blue is here to stay and there is most definitely a blue eyeshadow, eyeliner or mascara for you!

This season, blue eye makeup was a staple on the runways, practically becoming the new black for many makeup artists, who often used deep indigo eyeliner in lieu of harsher blacks. The result? A softer, more mysterious appeal... which puts your eyes front and center without making them appear overdone. Models at Zac Posen, Tommy Hilfiger and Narisco Rodriguez all sported variations of this look and made it work magnificently with nude, matte red and rosebud pink lips. It's rumored that wearing a blue eyeliner also makes tired and red eyes look brighter, whiter and more awake. Trust me... it's true! Kate Hudson and Katie Holmes were recently spotted wearing this trend on their lower lash-lines.

NYFW Moment: Watching Anna Wintour Watch a Fashion Show

    image

There are 15 minutes to go before the threeASFOUR Fall 2008 show in as smallish Chelsea New York Fashion Week venue. There's a blonde fashion editor to Anna Wintour's left, chatting amiably. There's a brunette to her right, in a striped scarf. Anna sits between them, topped in her blonde-streaked helmet bob, red shirt, brooch, and mink stole. She chats with the scarf. She glances about the room. Until the show starts, she is the show, and she knows it.
