So why not express your gratitude to the constellations for all their heavenly fashion finds by wearing your appreciation on your sleeve? Forget hearts, butterflies, and animal prints -- this summer is all about the stars, whether embroidered on a tank, cut-out from a dress, or sparkling from your earlobes! Tulips, Pansies and Flowers For Your Hair!

What happens when you combine some of the biggest names in fashion with...floral design? On May 14's Tulips & Pansies: The Headdress Affair event in NYC, I got to see the results of that unlikely pairing firsthand, as designers including Tory Burch, Thierry Mugler, Lilly Pulitzer, Alvin Valley, and Zang Toi partnered with some of New York City's top horticulturalists to create one-of-a-kind, uber-chapeaus made entirely of flowers. The finished product? Simply stunning. Painstakingly weaved orchids, red roses that spilled from a bustle in a graceful blanket, and twigs that were fashioned into shapes straight out of a Tim Roth film were just some of the highlights I tried to capture with my meager little 8.0 mpx. Some of the creations just had to be viewed in person, though, to really appreciate the extraordinary level of detail and work that went into each headdress. After the fabulous runway show, I ran into designer Zang Toi and PR doyenne/"The Hills" favorite Kelly Cutrone, and even got to try Zang's headdress on, wherein I decided that the models must also be thick-necked linebackers in disguise because, Holy Cow, it weighed at least 25 pounds (the tilt I'm sporting in the pic is not at all an attempt to be coy)! Yet the fact that the night was in honor of Village Cares New York (VCNY), a not-for-profit organization serving individuals with HIV/AIDS in need of medical and rehabilitation services, must have made the weight quite a lot easier to bear. Check out the slide-show to view some of the fab headdress creations!

Vintage Fashionistas Mean Business: Ten Suits for the ...

It's been over a decade since I traded the Fortune 500 lifestyle for that of an entrepreneur, but I still remember the best piece of advice I ever received while in the corporate world: Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. It's so much more empowering to own and wear only five suits that make you look (and feel) like a CEO than it is to have a closet full of clothes that just won't pass muster in a boardroom. And in today's economy, with people in every tax bracket minding their P's and Q's (pennies and quarters), it's a good time to remember that quality never goes out of style. Sure today's selection of vintage suits carry higher price-tags than their shoddily made cousins, but their cost-per-wear can make your morning latte seem like the more expensive luxury. Black Friday may not be an official US holiday, but so many people have the day off that it may as well be! Of course, most folks won't be heading to parks or beaches or any of those other normal vacation spots. Nope, on Black Friday, fashionistas all over the country will be hitting the malls, the boutiques, and the shopping plazas along with a few bazillion other people. Not me though. This year I've decided to relax at home with a good cup of coffee and get a headstart on Cyber Monday. And why not? With so many great online vintage boutiques, there's no reason to battle the crowds. Just take a look at this collection of Black Friday finds and you may be inspired to trade in your car keys and start punching computer keys. Just click the slideshow to see the selections.

Vintage Style: Plaid Refuses to Go Away. Yay!

I have friends who, after spending twelve years in Catholic or private school uniforms, say they'll never, EVER wear plaid again. No way, no how. Not a hat or scarf or skirt. Not even that famous Burberry print. Of course, not all of us feel this aversion. Some of us look at all the plaid in the Dolce & Gabbana ads in the fall fashion magazines and feel our hearts start to flutter. Yes, tartan and plaid are extremely popular this season but that doesn't mean you have to look like a walking stadium blanket. For the faint of heart, add just a touch with a scarf, hat or handbag. For the more daring, click the slide show and go mad for these plaid vintage finds.

Vintage Style: Sunshine Finds for Vintage Fashionistas

It's that time of year when the Back to School sales are in full swing. And while I'm won't be stocking up on any yellow No. 2 pencils, I am inspired to sport something in the sunshine shade during the remaining carefree days of summer. Yellow is a surefire attention-getter (which is why there are so many yellow taxicabs on our streets) but that also makes it especially tricky to wear. Try pairing it with neutrals for a chic ensemble or with navy for a nautical look. And if you think you can't wear yellow because it washes you out, don't give up without a fight. With choices that range from banana to canary, you are sure to find a sunshine shade that is just right for you. Still need some inspiration? Then click the SLIDESHOW for a collection of yummy yellow vintage finds.
