Lo Bosworth Dishes On Style And The New Season Of The Hills!

    image

Lo Bosworth's most memorable quip about fashion may be "I have not found a cute white dress, like, ever. They're all trashy and tacky." This, of course, was spoken right before the screen cuts to a shot of Kristin Cavallari in a clingy sleeveless eggshell number (meow!). Die-hard watchers will remember that infamous scene from Season 1 of "Laguna Beach," where we were first introduced to much of the cast that now makes up "The Hills" milieu. Now, it's been five years... has Lo managed to ever find a decent white dress? "I have!" she laughed during our interview last week. "I just got a great white shift dress from Topshop that's beautifully decorated with little black beads all over it. White doesn't really do great things for me from behind, though." Her candidness and reversal of judgment demonstrate a lot about her. Loyal but level-headed, the Laguna/Hills star may have strong opinions but isn't inflexible about viewing them from another angle. It's that same distinct yet laidback quality that also marks her personal style, which I happen to love -- easy yet elegant. Her wardrobe must-haves? "I like to really combine high-end with low-end stuff, especially things that are more 'evening' with others that are more casual," she shares. "[My style] is a good representation of a lot of LA fashion, and fashion just in Southern California: jeans, an amazing leather jacket, and a great blouse, purse, and heels... it's a good look: casual and just easy." I also asked Lo about stylists (she doesn't use one and puts her looks together mostly on her own), favorite designers (Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Lanvin), and beauty obsessions (her new Shu Uemura sheer orange lip gloss). So will Lo, who's just been given FLING Chocolate's first-ever "Best Fling" honor for "her confidence in being naughty, but not that naughty," be getting up to any trouble on the new season of "The Hills?" "For the next few episodes of the show, you're going to see me moderating between a lot of people. I try not to get too involved in the drama and be the calm between the storms!" Let's see: that's "moderating," "drama," and "storms" all in one description. Yep -- sounds like "The Hills" is back! Tune in to MTV for the season premiere on Tuesday, September 29 at 10pm! I'm convinced that I know more than anyone exactly how hard it is to find the perfect real leather moto jacket at a reasonable price. It seems like everyone else in the world already has one that they're rocking on the street daily... so where's mine? Well, thanks to fashionable LA girls like Audrina Patridge and Jessica Lowndes, proclaimed fans of playful French design team For Joseph, I may have find my perfect match... or two. Or four. With their variety of styles and details, from pocketed bombers to biker-chic exposed zippers, it's hard to choose which of their trendy, celeb-approved options I'd want for my go-to jacket. And considering their reasonable price range, I probably wouldn't have to pick just one (though that's probably not a good idea). Check out the choices on the For Joseph site and be prepared to fall in love!

    Price: $326-392

Goodbye Lauren Conrad, Hello Pretty Blue Dresses!

When technology breaks down like my laptop did last week, I realized I had more downtime so I could finally finish up my DVR recordings of "The Hills." As much as the show annoys me and I know it's not real, I can't stop watching -- it's my guilty pleasure! Anyway, In her "Hills" goodbye episode, Lauren Conrad wears this adorable blue Valentino dress. Although the dress itself is cute, what really caught my eye was how stunning the shade of blue is. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of this rich, versatile color. Some of my favorite dress picks in this particular shade include the Fiumicelli Reversible Cami dress, the Loeffler Randall pocket dress, and this Laila Azhar one-shoulder dress, all available at Shopbop!

Nick Verreos Helps Take The Yellow Brick Road To The Red Carpet!

Can you believe it's been 70 years since Dorothy and Toto set off following the yellow brick road? In honor of the 70th Anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz" the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles selected four students to design gowns inspired by the classic film's main characters. Enter former "Project Runway" contestant Nick Verreos -- who was brought in to mentor the young designers updating looks for The Cowardly Lion, The Tin Man, The Scarecrow, and Dorothy. Nick blogs about his time in the Tim Gunn-role, "I was very nervous because this was to be the unveiling of their creations, and at the same time, a 'graduation' of sorts for me, since I mentored, guided and helped these students." In addition to his mentor role, Nick had fun out on the event's yellow carpet. Wearing a Dorothy-inspired blue gingham shirt, he rubbed elbows with George Lopez, Kristin Cavallari of "The Hills," Debi Mazar, and Lisa Loeb. Check out our friends at SOAPnet.com for sweet pictures of the event and its movie-inspired designs!

Best Dressed Celebs Leighton Meester, Lauren Conrad And More ...

At the MTV Movie Awards (Oscar's red-headed cousin thrice-removed), the "Twilight" team won a zillion awards, host Andy Samberg sang an ode to turning one's back on explosions, Sacha Baron Cohen "offended" Eminem, and ... yadda yadda. What about the clothes? We were glued to the red carpet to see the latest in celeb styles. While there were some misses such as Kristen Stewart pairing a gorgeous Yigal Azrouel dress with Converse sneakers, there were quite a few hits too. Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell went (very) LBD, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port were a study in contrasts, and Leighton Meester -- well, all you Blair Waldorf fans are going to have to see it to believe it. Nary a headband to be seen! Check out our friends at SoapNET for a slideshow of their favorite looks.

Celeb Style: Go Sexy and Sophisticated Like Audrina Patridge

    image
Sabrina Newman on Jun 1, 2009 10:06 AM PDT
Hills star Audrina Patridge has definitely been making some noteworthy improvements in the style department and has been looking increasingly more fab and fashion-forward in recent months. At the Maxim Hot 100 Party, Audrina struck the perfect balance between sexy and sophisticated. The reality star showcased her killer legs in a midnight blue Doo.ri minidress teamed with jewel-encrusted Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain sandals and added some sleek sophistication to the look with a black Kris Van Assche tuxedo jacket. She accessorized with a chic Alexander McQueen clutch and kept the jewelry to a minimum with a subtle necklace and ring, to keep the look from being too cluttered (with shoes like that, you definitely don't need to go accessory-wild!). I loved this ensemble because in addition to being ultra chic and wearable, each piece is super versatile, definitely something I always like to look for in my purchases.
