Get Edgy With The Diesel Home Collection

    image
Anna Yu on Sep 25, 2009 2:24 PM PDT
Diesel may be best known for their fabulous jeans, but it looks like they expanding their empire into home decor too. In particular, their home textile collection caught my eye. From eye-catching sheets, studded towels (whoa), and not your grandma's sofa covers, they definitely don't like like something you bought from Martha Stewart! The clever tromp l'oeil prints are super realistic and give the illusion that the pillow are tufted, and the sheets appear rumpled. You may have to explain to your parents that you did make your bed when they visit and I'm having a hard time imagining how I'd use a studded towel to dry myself off... but hey, at least it all looks cool! I can imagine die hard Diesel fans, rock stars, and edgy home decorators like Kelly Wearstler gravitating towards this collection. Available in select Diesel stores and other boutiques, check out their collection in my slideshow!

We recently fell in love with Fancy Picnic, a hot new company on the DIY scene. UK Designer Charlotte creates multi-textural pieces that will help you add those finishing touches to your favorite outfits. Charlotte loves working with gorgeous textiles, silken threads, luscious braids, vintage buttons and sparkly beads as she creates a variety of wearable jewelry. And the bright colors will spice up your late summer and fall outfits. We've also found some of our other favorite designers dishing up some tempting textile eye candy. Check out gorgeous necklaces by 7thMagpie, Shagpile, and Kirev8. And if you need an elegant neutral piece, All Things Pretty's "Once Upon A Time" necklace for $195 is a must see. This dreamy piece, made from layers of lace, vintage and antique, crocheted and tatted - it is a real work of art. Check out our slideshow for some more handmade designer textile pieces.

Best known for a winning combination of simple designs and brightly-colored patterned fabrics, Finnish design powerhouse Marimekko is one of my top choices when it comes to dressing kids in the hottest high-quality designer duds. Founded in 1951, the Marimekko aesthetic derives from the application of superior Scandinavian graphic design to textiles. Some of the most successful uses for the company's famous prints are found in their current Kids' Collection, where the whimsy of children's clothing finds a perfect partner in Marimekko's colorful, relaxed designs. Check out my favorite examples in the slideshow!
