    What's Next For Alexander Wang?

    image

You all know Alexander Wang by now, the fashion wunderkind who started his namesake line by his second year of design school in 2007. In 2008 he conquered the shoe and handbag market- how's an 800 person waiting list for proof? In 2009, he added t-shirts with his coveted knitwear line T by Alexander Wang. What's next-- world domination? Maybe not quite, but as far as we're concerned he's getting pretty close. With the success of his T line, he's adding more styles that go beyond the perfectly fitted slouchy tee and tank. He is debuting some men's styles too-- think well-worn t-shirts, casual tanks and button-downs, and some cool leather shorts. As if that isn't enough to have our tails wagging, Spring 2010 also brings us a new line of shades in collaboration with Linda Farrow, which Wang unveiled during his Sept fashion week show. Check out the slideshow to see some of the sunglasses and men's looks!

Show Your Support For Breast Cancer Awareness With A Tee!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, but this is an issue that should be brought to light at all times. In an effort to spread the word, designers have been coming out with some simple and flattering t-shirt designs that can be worn way past the month of October to remind all of us of this worthy cause. Many of the t-shirt designs still show the recognizable pink ribbon and use the bubble-gum pink color that we've all come to associate with Breast Cancer Awareness, but in an effort to reach a larger audience, designers are also introducing looks that include more versatile colors, trendy details and cute graphics that still sound as a voice for the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, allowing you to wear these tees for numerous occasions. Not only would the message for awareness be seen more often, but a large percentage (50% to 100%) of the proceeds are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, helping spread the word for prevention and funding the search for a cure. Even celebrities like Nicky Hilton, Sophia Bush and others are jumping on the Breast Cancer awareness bandwagon and have designed shirts to help spread the word. Check out the slideshow to shop our favorite tees and help raise awareness in the process.

Wardrobe Wish List: JCrew's Slub Cotton Crystal Necklace Tee

    image
Ida Hsiang on Sep 25, 2009 5:23 AM PDT
Okay, I, like most girls, love to dress up. I love zipping up a sexy dress, painting on some dramatic cat eyes, and slipping into some sky-high heels. But I also have those weekends when I am so burnt out, running from class to work to the gym, that I rather curl up in my pajamas and hide under the covers all weekend then spend an hour putting together an outfit. That's why I couldn't be more ecstatic that t-shirts are formal this fall. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius and my new favorite person. There are so many options (these tees are literally everywhere, which means you can find them in any price range), but my favorite is the Slub Cotton Crystal Necklace Tee from J Crew. It's ultra classy and chic, while still being unbelievably comfortable and wearable at the same time. Sure, the price tag is a little steep ($49.50 to be exact), but considering the amount of times I'm going to wear this thing (when I finally get my paws on it), it will be totally worth it. What makes it even better is that with this one addition to my wardrobe I have enough new outfit combos to get me through every weekend in fall. Click over to our friends at CollegeCandy for more!

Don't You Dare Call These Tees Basic!

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Sep 1, 2009 2:19 PM PDT
We love our basics, we really do... but we'd be lying if we said they were the most exciting things in our closets. Sure, that American Apparel v-neck goes with 18 other outfits (and that's just the grey one) but honestly, it's kind of boring on its own, right? Why not swap out those boring basics with tees that have just a little something extra? Tiny embellishments transform plain tees from reliable standbys to fashionable favorites in their own right, and they're just as versatile as ever. Take this jersey tank from Casual Couture by Green Envelope- from the front, it's a simple, well-cut top, but the back features an exposed zipper that will add a little edge to any outfit. The pearl tee from Sauce is a girly spin on everyone's favorite slouchy pocket tee, and J. Crew's jeweled tissue tee practically has a statement necklace built in and would look perfect paired with everything from scruffy boyfriend jeans to a polished skirt and blazer. See the slideshow for your new favorite basics!

College Candy Presents 8 Under $20: Old Navy!

    image

For many of you, school has already begun or will shortly, which means new additions to the wardrobe are necessary. Woohoo! But you don't have to spend a lot to update that 2008 fall wardrobe. Old Navy is a great place to get cute basics at super reasonable prices. Just pair these items (many of which are on sale!) with the trendier items/accessories in your closet for a brand new look. Here are a few pieces I found that'll be great for the upcoming months:

Jeans: Jeans are obviously a wardrobe staple in every college girl's closet, but sometimes we need a little variety. I say that every gal needs a cute pair of khakis. You can wear them with a polo, a basic button down or a tee. I totally love the green of these ones. They're a little different, but still totally neutral so you can wear them with just about anything!

Cute Tops: I'm really digging the cut and print of this shirt (though they also have it in solid colors if print's not your thang). But what I really heart about this tank is that you can wear it on its own before it gets too cool and also rock it under a boyfriend blazer for those chillier days.
