Live Like A Queen (Or King) At Turkey's Mardan Palace

    image

In Antalya, Turkey, a beautiful city surrounded by mountains that sits right on the Mediterranean coast, there lies a resort fit for a king. Mardan Palace was made for those rolling in riches, and every penny has been invested into the development of such indulgent design that its majesty defies reality. And what better a location for such a world-class resort than Antalya, a city known for its proximity to great skiing, hiking, and shipwreck exploring as well as its important role in the history of the Greek, Roman, and Ottoman empires. The hotel boasts its own coral reef and lagoon, a spa so sweet it will make you salivate, and a vast swimming pool that appears bigger in area than the resort itself. Each room caters to this marvelous location with a view of either the Mediterranean Sea, the Taurus Mountain Range, or the pool encapsulated by a series of ornamented bridges. As if the beautiful view weren't enough, guests enjoy toiletries by Hermes and a 24-hour butler service. Excursions alone could occupy your entire stay, but guests are also entertained by 24 different spots within the resort to enjoy some luxury food and libations, including one with an all vegetarian menu, one with windows made of tropical fishtanks, one within the Palace's own waterfall, and one situated on the rooftop. It's a shame I've spent most of my lifetime without having considered Turkey an instinctual travel destination: It's now reached the top of my list! Vintage Fashionistas Pay Tribute To The Queen Of Swimwear

    image

Rose Marie Reid was the Queen of Swimwear in the 1950s, ruling an empire that produced 10,000 suits a day and posted sales of $14 million by 1958! Women loved her knack for hiding figure flaws and it was Rose Marie Reid who pioneered the use of tummy control panels, wire bra cups and the boning and adjustable straps that we enjoy in modern swimwear today. Plus she was a woman who stood by her convictions. Because she was Mormon, she refused to design immodest bathing suits. So while her company did ultimately create bikinis, Rose Marie Reid refused to participate in their design. For vintage fashionistas, an early authentic Rose Marie Reid swimsuit is a coveted find. Click the slideshow to see a fab little selection of her designs!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM Runway: Red Carter

A swimsuit is a swimsuit is a swimsuit, right? Not if it's a Red Carter design! They challenge your idea of a conventional one-piece or bikini and have you lusting after the interesting and daring details of their suits. Red Carter isn't tentative or apologetic about their extreme and avant-garde outlook. There are, of course, colorful and lively patterns that stimulate the eye, but it is the space-age metallic leggings or edgy hardware that garner the most attention. It's the optical illusion patterns and the oversized, brightly colored, Lolita-like details that make you sit up a little straighter and stare a little longer. The strapless tops and wild animal prints earned more than a few double-takes... and possibly neck injuries! Beach coverings were elegant and luxurious. Men in speedos and barely-there briefs have never been my thing, but if all men looked like the male models did in Red Carter's bold and edgy "trunks," then I may just have to rethink my stance! Bedazzled Bathing Suits To Bling Out Your Next Beach Day

Sparkles, sequins, and studs -- oh my! If you're not built like Alessandra Ambrosio like I am (ha! I'm definitely kidding), finding the perfect swimsuit can be a task similar to finding a needle in a haystack... so you might as well make sure that the one suit you finally settle on is killer! Of course, confidence is the only thing you really need to get heads turning and all eyes on you as you strut your stuff on the sand, but let's face it -- sparkly embellishments adorning your scantily-clad bod definitely helps! Forget your basic black bandeau and opt for a tribal-inspired stone-studded bikini from Victoria's Secret, or even a wallet-friendly Charlotte Russe rhinestone monokini for added coverage with maximum sex appeal. We may be well into summer by now, but it's certainly not too late to add some shimmer to your swim style. Check out the slideshow for some of my favorite sparkling suits that'll be sure to amp up your next pool party or beach date!

Even though you always feel lucky when the sun's shining and the sky is nearly cloudless, the beautiful sunny weather you're enjoying is no coincidence! The stars have aligned in favor of keeping the sun out of hiding and for you to savor a day outdoors, and the least you could do to show your gratitude is to listen to the stars' stellar advice! Whether you're long overdue for a serious break or just can't resist squeezing in a perfect-weather beach day no matter how packed your schedule is, it's vital to lounge in style. Tauruses can cover up with a Marc Jacobs bandeau dress that's so cute, you might not even want to reveal your suit! On the other hand, Capricorns can fully enjoy the gorgeous weather and scenery with a retro-chic Juicy Couture floppy hat that'll help keep the blazing sun out of your face and eyes. Before you head out to enjoy that beach volleyball court or blow-up floating lounge chair, check the slideshow to see what kind of beachy goodies your sign should be toting along!

    Bring On The Cute Swimsuits!

Everyone has their favorite childhood summer memories. While passing by little ones dodging waves and burying siblings in sand at the beach, it's hard not to wish you were a kid again. Sometimes, even, those youthful styles of bows and polka dots are what we really wish we could squeeze back into! Luckily, you can still find a suit for your rockin' grown-up bod that's carried over some of your favorite feminine features. Sure, wearing a one-piece, boat-necked, thick-strapped tutu is probably only something that can pass while you're too young to notice how ridiculous you look, so these more mature styles won't sink you deep into a pool of fashion faux pas. These fun, flirty, and oh-so-cute styles will give you a girl-next-door edge without losing that sexy, beach chic!
