Video Style Steal: Lykke Li In "Breaking It Up"

Many pop stars throw around some sultry rock n' roll looks for their videos and magazine spreads, leaving us feeling like they're playing dress up. Not as much can be said for Swedish songstress Lykke Li-- she is the real deal. With her long blond hair and angelic eyes rimmed in black liner she is one part angel, one part rock goddess. In her video for hit song "Breaking It Up," she exudes fierce and unapologetic sex appeal. The video feels as though it's set in a modern day Warhol-esque factory and features Lykke dancing around in a totally enviable outfit. A body conscious black dress topped off with an oversized white jacket and some black booties may sound boring at first, but it's anything but. To get the look, try Opening Ceremony's zip up back lattice dress. While she wears a more exaggerated silhouette jacket, I think the Madison Marcus "Alliance" jacket would work just as well. Dangerously high black booties are funked up a little bit by layering some mid calf white socks. Don't forget to pile on the rings- one on each finger if you can, or fake it with Bijules' bar ring that covers three fingers. A long statement chain necklace adds the perfect amount of glam and rock chic making simple black and white look so good. Watch the video and check out the slideshow to see how to get Lykke's look!

They're here! Fjallraven Kanken mini backpacks! Try saying that name three times fast! Fjallraven is a Swedish company that makes durable all-purpose backpacks and the Kanken minis are especially cute because... well, they're mini! They come in a variety of colors so you can pick your favorite and they have an old school 90's feel that harks back to those elementary school days. Just remember, it's not cool unless you wear your straps on only one shoulder! The Kanken Minis hold a notebook, a few textbooks and a lunch perfectly so bring the little guy with you to school! Fjallraven is actually the Swedish word for "arctic fox" which is also the brand's logo. It was named after the arctic fox because they are known for surviving the harsh Swedish winters. These bags, made of vinylon, can also withstand some heavy handling. These petite accessories are equipped with front reflectors, a detachable inner seat pocket and a side pocket as well. The Fjallraven Kanken Mini holds exactly what you need for a hike or camping excursion and is easy to manage and access. So whatever your everyday activities consist of, pack it up and take it with you in style!

    Price: $75.00

Style World: How To Rock Layers Like the Swedes!

    image

Fashion would be nothing like the cultural mega-force it is today without international influence, and believe me, it goes much farther than the fact that another H&M store pops up every time we blink. That's why I'm so inspired by StyleDiary, where real people from all over the world are posting pictures of their outfits, with everything from the everyday to the experimental. Recently I've taken notice of quite a few Swedish Stylediarists whose outfits quickly caught my attention. Something about their layered looks was so effortless, as if anyone could create them just by using closet staples, yet these fashionistas threw on a unique touch making them truly stand out - a quirky hat, a belt layered over a sweater, or an unexpected pop of color. Click on my SLIDESHOW for seven Stylediarists from Sweden!
