How Do You Prefer Brad: White-Hot Or Dark & Handsome?

    image
Alex Gambardella on Aug 15, 2009 9:23 AM PDT
This past week has been a big one for Brad Pitt (then again, when isn't it a good week to be Brad Pitt?) with the recent Hollywood premiere of his latest film, Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. Decked out in head-to-toe black, save for a pair of gold-rimmed aviators and some goatee scruff, he looked sharp as always and accessorized flawlessly with leather-clad Angelina Jolie on his arm for nearly the entire night. Despite all the excitement, he wasn't too busy to lend support to pals Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams at the NYC premiere of The Time Traveler's Wife just two days later -- only this time dressed in head-to-toe white... with a similar pair of aviators and the same scruffy facial hair. Uh, Brad? What's with the monochromatic menswear? While we understand the desire to match and coordinate, that doesn't mean you need to wear all the same color... especially when these suit shades can hardly even be considered "colors!" I guess there's no use complaining -- the man still looks good, no matter how much variation he seems to lack. Personally, I enjoy him most in his wide-open bathrobe in Fight Club, but since that's not an option, vote below on which one-color ensemble you like best: Brad in white or Brad in black? Who's Your Favorite Funny Guy With A Serious Sense Of Style?

    image
Alex Gambardella on Jun 6, 2009 9:43 AM PDT
What's sexier than a guy with a great sense of humor? Hmm... OH, I know! I know! A guy with a great sense of humor... who can actually dress himself! Can I get an "amen, sister"? Just kidding, but seriously -- I guess when it comes to most celebs and their hired stylists, we can't exactly give them all the credit for picking out their wardrobe on their own, but still -- a cute, funny guy who also happens to be fashionable is a fine find indeed. While it may be stereotypically safe to assume that most goofy guys have equally laughable closets, it's refreshing to know that some of the younger generation funny fellas, including the likes of John Krasinski and Andy Samberg, know that there's a time and a place for making the crowds chuckle -- and their three-piece suits and tailored shirts are no laughing matter! These guys may not be the next Brad Pitts, but looking at how well they clean up, it's no wonder why their collective dating record reads like a Victoria's Secret catalog! Vote below on who you think is the most stylish snicker-inducer of the bunch.

Khaki Suits Keep It Cool In The Spring And Summer

    image

A khaki suit is like a refreshing beverage on a warm day. It's crisp. It's light and it suits (no pun intended) the season. As the cooler seasons come to a close, put your black suit on the back burner and go for some lighter fare. A suit within the color palette of khaki can look just as good and sleek as a black suit. Another bonus for the khaki garb is that a lot of them are sold as separates and there's more versatility with the pieces-- but personally, I like to keep them all together. I have a separate black and khaki blazer that I use as my fail-safe separate. With the Ralph Lauren Rugby Newbury Chino suit, you can look like the perfect dandy and with a classic Brooks Brothers two-button poplin suit you can be the refined gentleman you were meant to be. A khaki or tan suit has this "happy-go-lucky" vibe that shines with the sun. With the right shirt, tie and pocket square, a lighter suit is a must for the spring and summer seasons. Check out the slideshow for some of these cool suits that are a lighter shade of brown.

New York Fashion Week Runway: London Dandyism Walks The Z ...

    image

If Sherlock Holmes were in need of a new wardrobe, the Z Zegna Fall 2009 collection would be his go-to label. With a straight-forward bespoke style, creative director Alessandro Sartori introduces us to 21st century dandyism with modified bowler hats, heavy topcoats and finely tuned suits. Ties went wider and almost took on the look of ascots, while shoulders were broad and confident. The heavy fabrics were very fall-appropriate and blatantly a look of masculine elegance, but adding a little zest with those palettes to some of the coats wasn't the best detail to make it suitable for the everyday man. Even so, the sophisticated looks were the embodiment of the dapper man. How do I know this? Elementary, my dear Watson.

Eight Black Friday Finds for Vintage Fashionistas!

    image
Mary Kincaid on Nov 28, 2008 6:18 AM PST
Black Friday may not be an official US holiday, but so many people have the day off that it may as well be! Of course, most folks won't be heading to parks or beaches or any of those other normal vacation spots. Nope, on Black Friday, fashionistas all over the country will be hitting the malls, the boutiques, and the shopping plazas along with a few bazillion other people. Not me though. This year I've decided to relax at home with a good cup of coffee and get a headstart on Cyber Monday. And why not? With so many great online vintage boutiques, there's no reason to battle the crowds. Just take a look at this collection of Black Friday finds and you may be inspired to trade in your car keys and start punching computer keys. Just click the slideshow to see the selections.

Comme des Garcons For H&M Hits Stores TODAY!

    image
    Dino-Ray Ramos on Nov 13, 2008 12:13 PM PST
The time has finally come! Comme des Garcons and H&M are giving us that one-two punch of polka dots and stitches that we have all been waiting for! The fall collection created by designer Rei Kawakubo is finally in stores. True to avant garde form, Kawakubo collaborated with the frugal retail store to create a collection of womenswear, menswear, accessories and a limited time fragrance. The collection includes everything expected from CdG, and more. Quirky, yet structured womenswear comes out in romantic jackets and polka dotted garb runs aplenty with finely tuned men's button down shirts. Too bad H&M doesn't sell online because I just know the entire collection would be sold out in a minute. My personal favorite is that dark and demented plaid suit with the diagonal stitch across the chest. I am going to be first in line for that. Check out the slideshow of the collection, and then rush out to your nearest H&M to snag some pieces before they escape from the racks!
