Video Style Steal: Beyonce And Lady GaGa Team Up For "Video ...

Beyonce has always been known for topping herself when it comes to putting on a good show and looking fab while doing so, but for her latest video "Video Phone," B's got a secret weapon aside from all those Nerf gun props -- Lady GaGa. The result? Lots of gyrating, futuristic flair, and of course, more costume changes than you can accurately keep track of. And while a collabo featuring two of today's boldest pop divas is undoubtedly a recipe for fierceness, it's also bound to feature lots of unattainable designer duds... and a lack of suitable pants. If you're ready to tackle suspicious stares and a whole slew of credit card bills, check out Jean Paul Gaultier's latest collections for Beyonce's exact video outfits (good luck!), but if you're looking for an actual wearable interpretation of her killer stud boots and trench-inspired outfit, look no further than the slideshow!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Milly

    image

The Milly Spring/Summer 2010 "Punk Meets Prep" collection was high on my list of Fashion Week favorites. This season, designer Michelle Smith mostly abandoned her signature bright shades and bold prints and opted for a palette primarily of black and ecru with the occasional pop of color. The collection stayed true to Milly's signature femme aesthetic but the sweetness was offset by an edgy, punk-rock sensibility. Floaty silhouettes were toughened up with studs, embellishments, and layered jewelry (all from Milly's new jewelry collection). There were plenty of signature Milly staples -- mini shifts, elbow-sleeve coats, delicate blouses, metallic jacquard -- but the rich shades and sexy shapes infused these classics with a fabulous edge and radiated a stronger sense of bold confidence. Some of my absolute favorites included all of the hand-beaded knit sweaters and tops, a strapless metallic jacquard corset mini dress, and a black silk gauze trapeze dress (I will definitely be snagging that one the second it hits the racks!). From uptown prep to downtown punk and everything in between, this collection was full of must-have pieces that are both modern and timeless -- take a look at the slideshow to check them out!

The Fall/Winter 2009 Kate Moss for TopShop Collection is now available on the store's website. With the new collaboration, Moss and TopShop emphasize vintage glamour and smart, grown-up pieces. But don't worry -- there's still a rock-n-roll element to Kate Moss's collection, influenced by the best of the '60s through the '80s. Blouses and dresses in billowy chiffon are prominent, including this gorgeous Beaded Collar Swing Dress. Simple jersey tops are given a biker chick finish whether adorned with studs, beads or chain details, while eveningwear has an antique feel. Tarnished gold sequins are scattered over a maxi dress, waistcoat, and this cool Antique Sequin Bolero. Head over to Couture in the City for a run-down of some other pieces in the just-released collection!

Video Style Steal: Pink Goes Moto-Girlie In "Funhouse"

    image
Alex Gambardella on Aug 13, 2009 8:21 AM PDT
While Pink herself is right in the middle of her worldwide tour for her fifth studio album, Funhouse, her singles and in-your-face videos haven't taken a break from their chart-topping around the rest of the globe. Her latest vid for the album's title track is characteristically "Pink" in its rebellious tomboy vibes (after all, I don't know many girlie-girls who would dare frolic through a burning junkyard, much less while dressed head-to-toe in white), yet her wardrobe is surprisingly flirty at the same time. Then again, who else would you expect to find the perfect balance between feminine lace and badass biker chick? I may never understand her love-hate relationship with husband Corey Hart, and I'll be less likely to ever have the guts to be as bold as she is, but I can at least take a page or two from her book of style! With white distressed jeans and black belted boots, you can cop her outfit pretty easily -- I just don't recommend committing arson while you're wearing it. Okay, I think it's officially time to call off that search for the perfect studded handbag. Now you can custom-make it yourself with this Professional Stud Setter! Portable and super-easy to use, this crafty tool allows you to attach your own grommets, studs, snaps, and other embellishments to your favorite clothes and accessories. It's the ultimate way to spice up your wardrobe and salvage boring old pieces that were once destined to end up at the thrift store. And at the reasonable price of $68, think of all the shoes, shirts, jackets, and bags you can bedazzle just the way you want them, without having to sift through all the heavily-blinged out merchandise on the sale rack that never perfectly suits your fancy. Now, if you see a girl on the street wearing seriously studded duds from head to toe in the next couple of days, it's not an overzealous wannabe biker chick... it's probably just me, taking a break from my fun new fashion toy.

    Price: $68

Summer Style Staple: Flat Embellished Sandals

    image

While flip-flops have undoubtedly gone trendy in their existence as a warm weather necessity in footwear (ie: the endless array of fancified Havaianas and those trusty and sturdy Rainbows), sometimes plain ol' thong sandals can come off as too casual when it comes to making a statement, attending special occasions, or whenever simply donning your default slip-ons just won't do. We watched gladiator and platform sandals take hold of every fashionista's feet for kick-ass strappy style in the months prior, but now that June is nipping at our heels, flat sandals are getting jazzed up in the most creative ways to keep that element of dressed-up drama in a more comfortable, summer-friendly package that can be suitable for day and night. Chunky stones, chain straps, ruffles galore, and so much more -- these sandals aren't just for slipping on as an afterthought as you run out of the house for an emergency beat-the-heat smoothie. Embellished sandals are the perfect footwear for looking effortlessly put together and appropriately adorned from head to toe while still giving your feet room to breathe! You're on your own when it comes to avoiding the funky foot tan lines, however! Check the slideshow for some of this season's snazziest sandals!
