This is really the era of self-expression and as long as it looks good and you have the attitude to rock it, anything goes! Skinny jeans and wide-leg trousers are both in style; tops with super long hems as well as cropped cardigans have both become fashion staples, and any bright color, funky pattern and unique silhouette is welcome! The same goes for accessories and this summer, really top off your look with a hat! Usually reserved for slightly cooler weather say, in the winter and fall, hats are really making a statement this summer. From floppy, wide-brim straw hats reminiscent of the Kentucky Derby to classic, sharp fedoras that add edgy attitude to a flirty dress, the wide array of coif-topping styles make it fun and easy to find a shape that works for you! So give your daily SPF moisturizer a little help and invest in a great summer hat to stay cool and stylish all season! I'd say "hats off" to great style, but you'll be wanting to keep them on in this case! Check out the slideshow for a variety of styles and prices to fit your look and budget.

"Picture yourself in a boat on a river..." The Beatles may have had something there. We've seen the fedora come and go and the floppy sun hat loitering around, but the new shape in hats is...drumroll please...the boater hat. Seen on the Spring 09 Marc Jacobs runway and now your closet! It's a classic silhouette, but the mini boater hat from Pixie Market was the first to re-catch our eye, now we can't stop spotting them on the style-set in the streets. We love this perfect straw boater hat with grosgrain ribbon from Brooks Brothers & suggest you give this new/old shape a try. Perfect for lazy summer days in the park with your favorite floral print dress. Or try polishing up your standard skinny jeans and a slouchy t-shirt getup with a proper boater hat. If you're like me and shivering under blankets or still wearing sweaters and boots, now might be the best time to plan your spring break getaway. Whether you're going south of the border or perhaps the beaches of Miami, any place with sun and surf is worth going to! So you've got the location down, now it's time to plan what you're going to pack. When going on vacation, it's always tempting to try out a new style you wouldn't necessarily wear at home. However, the worst thing is to feel uncomfortable or self-conscious, during your well-deserved vacation no less! So stick to your style and stay with neutral colors you can mix and match. You can always be adventurous with the accessories you buy wherever you go, whether it's an armful of stacked bangles or a quintessential statement necklace.

Another hint: making a list of what to pack is important because it will lessen the chance of forgetting something. The last time I forgot to pack without using a list, I didn't bring socks or a toothbrush! Click read more to see my list of spring break travel essentials and check out the slideshow for more ideas. Just remember to leave extra space in your suitcase or pack an empty bag for all the goodies you'll be buying! Read on for my ten spring getaway must-haves!

A chic hat can completely transform an ordinary outfit into something worthy of double takes. Hats contain an appeal all their own - a wide-brimmed one offers a bit of mystery as it hides the eyes, while a floppy one adds a cute, casual edge. Spring is the perfect time to try out a new hat: the sun's out, so the necessity factor makes rocking it with confidence so much easier. With luxe looks from Kokin and Eugenia Kim and equally chic but affordable toppers from Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, there's one for every head and every budget.
