Get More Value with a Convertible Handbag!

    image

Handbags are my true weakness. Okay, and shoes, and accessories, okay FASHION. But handbags, I love. To get more mileage out of a bag purchase, I've been looking to buy one of the fall's convertible bags. You know, something that goes from shoulder to tote, or hobo to hip-slung with a quick switch of a strap. I love the color, texture and bohemian simplicity of the Kooba tied convertible hobo bag. And I feel like I could honestly carry this Foley + Corinna convertible small leather tote in red almost every day. It goes from shoulder to tote so flawlessly, and the scale is just adorable. Make Your Intimates Go Incognito With Our 7 Favorite ...

Excluding those gals who have the unique ability (and required lack of shame) to go around commando on top, we've all found ourselves in the dilemma of finding a super-cute top or dress... but no bra to wear with it. Since I require some serious support when it comes to my undergarments, I've tried just about anything to make do with what I've got at the last possible minute -- sewing kits, safety pins (why did it take them so long to invent the Brabuddy?), tucking straps into my armpits, etc. -- but now that I'm a little older, I've learned that the easiest solution is to just shop wiser! Why spend money on a separate strapless bra when you could buy the ultimate convertible bra that's both strapless, strapped, racerback, and halter all in one? And instead of resorting to emergency double-stick tape for those how-low-can-you-go necklines, why not just buy a convertible plunge bra that can serve as your go-to undergarment for any cleavage-baring little number? Convertibility doesn't always equal convenience, however, as some crazily-shaped bras can sacrifice much-needed comfort and support, so I've compiled some of my favorites to weed out the good from the gimmicky! Check the slideshow for the best bra finds that will have you appear smooth and strapless in any outfit!

Hot In The Hive: Buckle Up Your Camera With Photojojo's Seat ...

The number one safety rule when it comes to driving is buckling up, so why not do the same with your valuables? Expensive cameras fall hard (I've learned that the hard way), and to prevent such clumsy disasters, the Photojojo Seat Belt Camera Straps provide a cute and clever way to tote around your hefty piece of equipment in such a way that will secure your camera to your side just like the car seat does to its passengers! The straps are also eco-friendly, made from real recycled seat belts, and with cute color varieties like "T-Bird Teal," "Mercedes Gold," and "Porsche Purple," you'll be snapping pictures in style while keeping that dream of owning a shiny sports car close at hand. While they're supposedly compatible with any size camera, the thick and sturdy straps may look a little silly on my dinky Canon... but they're just so cute and colorful that it's hard to resist the urge to buy a retro Polaroid camera just to have an excuse to order one in every color!

Price: $20 each, or two for $35.

Travel Style: Carry-On Bags You Won't Want to Stow

Celebs have made flying fashionable again with their designer luggage, oversize shades and even more oversized luggage. But now that some airlines are charging you for even your first checked bag, it might be time to start packing light and carrying on your luggage. One of my favorite carry on bags is the 22 Carry On Case by Le Sportsac. They have been making great carry on size bags for years, but really hit a fashionable note when they paired up with Stella McCartney; and now you can get her Spring/Summer collection for Le Sportsac for 50% percent off on there website! Not only does it look snappy, its convenient too; with a shoe compartment at the bottom, and 2 mesh pockets inside to store smaller items. This bag is big enough to fit everything you need and yet fits perfectly in the overhead, it wheels and handle keep you from breaking your back at those long gate changes, since unlike celebrities most of us don't have personal bag carriers! Check out the SLIDESHOW for other great carry on picks for your summer jaunts.

Hive 5: Ballet Flats Take Center Stage

    image
Sydel Sakuma on Jul 22, 2008 8:18 PM PDT
Flats have been gracing the feet of many a stylish and sensible woman for decades (See Audrey). Heels no longer signify 'going out' or 'at the office' - flats can go anywhere, let you do anything, and can make you look as good as any heel can. (Okay, it may not have the same effect as a stiletto heel does, but did I mention you can actually walk in comfort for more than a block?) My personal favorite is the ballet flat, with a comfortable rounded toe, an elastic strap for support, a ribbon or bow here or there, and maybe some elastic ruching in the back for the perfect fit and contour. Everyone from Marc Jacobs to La Garçonne and Miu Miu have been drawing inspiration from the dance-inspired footwear. To add some drama ito your life click on the SLIDESHOW to see a few of my favorite flats.
