Spaced Out: 10 Finds Inspired By The Moon, Stars, And Beyond

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Sep 29, 2009 10:22 AM PDT
There's water on the moon! Or, well... there's molecular evidence of its presence. Which doesn't sound nearly as exciting as "water on the moon," but still somehow caused me to launch (ha) into a frenzied search for things trendy, wearable, and above all, covered in rockets. And stars. And planets! Interestingly enough, there were plenty of pieces to suit my craving. Tsumori Chisato's bespeckled tights in cream are so whimsical with their teensy rockets and astronauts, I want to gaze at them all night (instead of staring out of my window). Leifsdottir's silk sky print skirt is adorned with planets and a single ruffle, and would be so perfect with tights and a wool jacket. And the 'Stellae' necklace from Anthropologie satisfies my need for both a statement piece and something out of this world. Not so sure about wearing a galactic getup? Swipe some of Too Faced's Galaxy Glam eyeshadow (Super Nova is my favorite) on your eyelids and take your smoky eye routine from smudged to stellar. See more space-inspired picks in my slideshow!

Stylehive's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Fashion Roundup!

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were full of things to talk about- an inspiring, amazing dance-filled tribute to Michael Jackson? Check. Lady Gaga in multiple insane getups? Check, check. Kanye not having control of his mouth yet again? Check... how rude. And who could forget Taylor Swift's adorable subway station performance of "You Belong With Me," Beyonce's hip-shaking "Single Ladies" show, Pink's trapeze acrobatics, and, yes, the "New Moon" sneak peek? It's given us plenty to blog, talk, and tweet about, but let's not forget the outfits! Sparkly and short seemed to rule last night, but looks both dramatic (Gaga) and demure (Swift) stood out just as much, if not more. Click the slideshow to see our favorite looks from the VMAs! Paris Hilton Shops At Barney's In Yumi Kim's 'Woori' Dress

Paris Hilton was recently photographed at Barneys wearing a very cute strappy green dress and white hot accessories. Regardless of your opinion of the heiress (or if you even have one), you've got to admit she looks pretty well put together. And I think I finally understand why celebs like Paris make such a point of dressing up just to go shopping. After all, they do say you should dress for the job you want, and if looking hot and shopping are career goals, then she's well on her way! As for me, I'll just settle for owning her dress. It's the Yumi Kim 'Woori' dress in Green Pixie, available on the designer's e-shop for a surprisingly affordable $210.
What do you think of Paris' dress? Tell us in comments!

    Influential International Style: Alexa Chung

Sometimes, when you see a girl with seemingly effortless style that you know you would look ridiculous in, even if you were wearing literally the exact same clothes, it can make you jealous. Okay, maybe that's just me. But in the case of British model/television host Alexa Chung, it just makes you want to be her slightly less cool friend. Having modeled for the likes of Urban Outfitters, Antipodium and Vivienne Westwood, it figures that her style boasts eclectic choices as well as informed classics. Think mixing white t-shirts with fancy shorts and a simple tote bag, pairing it with messy hair and actually not looking insane. She takes experimental choices on red carpets, always, always dresses for her own body, and always looks comfortable in her own skin. Check out my slideshow for ways you can mimic the lovely Alexa Chung's style and maybe someone will want to be your slightly less cool friend!

I have a love-hate relationship with tabloids and other celeb-centered publications. One minute I'm nonchalantly flipping through the pages, and the next I'm hit with an intense wave of desire, must.have.that.bag! (or shirt, or shoes, and so on). I usually get over it, dismissing the bag or other item as simply unattainable for someone of non-starlet status - until now that is! Next time desire strikes, I'll be heading over to People StyleWatch asap. They have an entire archive of celeb-coveted items, where to get them, and even how you can obtain their look for less! Head on over to People Style Watch You Asked, We Found: Star Looks right now!
