The Top 5 Trendy Jumpsuits For Your Spring Wardrobe!

    image
Pauline Montupet on Apr 2, 2009 9:18 AM PDT
Unless you have been living under a rock the past few months, you probably have noticed that jumpsuits are the key piece for your spring/summer wardrobe. Once relegated to construction workers, Studio 54 mavens and small children, the jumpsuit has broken out once again. While this trend has been brewing for a while, it's finally hit fever pitch. I was an early adopter of the trend, rocking vintage jumpsuits and a great little linen romper from Uniqlo last summer; I am so incredibly happy that one-piece ensembles, long and short, are everywhere now! My search for these one-piece wonders used to be confined to vintage stores and a few specialty stores, and it's like my options have quadrupled. There€™s nothing easier than one piece dressing! Throw on a casual short romper with some flats and a cardigan for day. By night, your options are limitless! Menswear-inspired tuxedo jumpsuits are subtly sexy with some heels for a night out. Embellished jumpsuits with the right jewelry and attitude can totally replace your cocktail dress. Check out the slideshow for my top 5 jumpsuits to get you set for the season and beyond!

The days of pink signifying youthful innocence are over. This season, designers have turned up the voltage, taking pink from pretty to powerhouse. Powerhouse pink is a happy medium between the sweet innocence of pale pink and the overt sex-appeal of radiant red, and has a vibrant energy which exudes confidence and fun. For a current look, contrast this vivid shade with neutral tones, or add sleek structure by pairing it with basic black. Celebrity Style: Electric Blue Is the Coolest Hue!

Of all the bright colors making the rounds this spring, I'm definitely favoring all things in the hue of electric blue! This color is undoubtedly striking, but not in that overly loud, obnoxious, paranoia-inducing kind of way. Unlike most bright colors, this one complements virtually every skin-tone and looks phenomenal set against all hair colors. Not only that, it looks incredible paired with every color period, from basic black to roaring red to punchy pink to glittery gold and on and on- color-coordinating mishaps are a non-issue when you throw this shade into the mix. So add some spark to your look and check out my SLIDESHOW for hot finds in this electrifying shade.

It's no secret that we pretty much live for fashion here at Stylehive. For every trend (both good and bad), style, silhouette, cut, shape, color, you name it, you can bet your bottom dollar that at least one bee buzzing about it in the hive. One of my favorite trends for spring is the lightweight scarf, also a MAJOR celebrity must-have, which is kind of a trendy 'non-trend' since it's too chic and practical to ever be outdated. So this week we're giving away three Love Quotes scarves (each retails for $85) from Singer 22! Click READ MORE to see how you can snag them!

    Editor's Pick: Neon + Neutral = Now!

We've all been well informed that this season is ALL about color. From super bold shades to ultra subdued hues, it€™s not what you wear, it€™s the colors you wear it in! The clear favorite from the crayon box this season was yellow, especially blinding shades of day-glo neon - which illuminated just about every spring runway show. To keep from looking like a walking highlighter, take a cue from fashion big-wigs like ThreeasFour, Nanette Lepore, and Phillip Lim, and tame your blaring yellow ensembles with subdued separates in neutral shades. The blending is so harmonious, designers are now removing the middle man and creating single pieces using these contrasting tones. Check out my SLIDESHOW for awesome ways to get your neon+neutral on!

Style Steal: Ashley Tisdale's Funky Gladiators

Shoe designer Matt Bernson is having a serious moment- I mean what else do you call it when your creations are 'It Girl' go-to items. While socialite/fashion designer Nicky Hilton favors the KM gladiators, High school Musical star Ashley Tisdale can't get enough of the Estancias, a funkier take on the classic gladiator style which, as Ashley demonstrates, can spice even the most basic of outfits. We all know that gladiators are without a doubt this season's biggest must-have, not only that, they're flattering, comfortable, and up the chic-quotient of any ensemble, so I have no doubt this trend is here for the long haul.
