"It's tough, it's fun, and it's sexy," says Beyonce about the flashy bags that are accented with a Mickey Mouse doll. Buzzed hairstyles seem to be all the rage for up-and-coming Hollywood starlets. From Rihanna's fashionable fauxhawk to Cassie and LaLa Vasquez's shaved sides, edgy cuts seem to keep these hair hoppers in the spotlight. Solange Knowles, who was photographed yesterday with this short sheared wash-and-wear hairstyle, is the latest celeb to say said goodbye to long tresses. The legendary model/actress Grace Jones was one of the first stars to make shaving the sides of your hair chic and cool. Are you bold enough to rock a trendy short 'do? Minx Nails, You Saw Them Here First!

    image
The Frisky on Jun 19, 2009 7:22 AM PDT
Everyone has been talking about Minx Nails lately. The nail art was featured in a recent issue of Vogue and on "Today" this morning, but I have to say these "news" outlets are a little behind. The Frisky gave you the dish on Minx back in October, and even interviewed manicurist, Lisa Logan, who was responsible for Beyonce and Solange€™s Obama nails that were popular during the presidential campaign. Last week, I had the pleasure of getting my nails dipped in gold. OK, not really, but I got close. I had Minx Nails applied in gold on eight fingers and gold cheetah on two fingers. It was kind of weird to have a "dry manicure." I had trouble remembering that my nails weren't wet, even though I just had them done. I kept the Minx Nails on for a few days and found myself admiring them quite often. However, I don't think they'll replace my normal manicure-- they're more for special occasions. The pedicures, however, I could get behind. A Minx pedicure supposedly lasts three times as long as the manicure.

Solange Brings Retro Sound And Fashion-Forward Style In ...

    image
Ida Hsiang on Jun 9, 2009 2:27 PM PDT
Solange Knowles is making a name for herself in the music world, finding her own niche and style. Back in the Destiny's Child days when big sis Beyonce, was busy becoming a household name, Solange was also trying her hand at music. She made a few cameos in videos, but she really just came across as a mini-Beyonce. Her style was a junior and less sassy version of her older, more famous, counterpart. Whoever marketed her music saw the success of Destiny's Child and the hip-pop/ R&B sound and tried to emulate that in Solange's image. Solange was able to gain a little recognition, but was still mostly recognized as "Beyonce's sister." After laying low in music for a few years and only modeling for the occasional Dereon ad (an urban streetwear company headed by Beyonce and their mother, Tina Knowles), Solange has returned with her catchy, retro-soul album named Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. The songs have an old school feel with trippy beats and a tint of funk and blues. The music is tight, the lyrics are sincere and the beats get you moving. Her style, however, is the biggest and most pleasant surprise. From bright colors, extreme details, fashion-forward silhouettes and risk-taking ensembles, Solange shows that she has grown into her own woman and is setting the standards for her own sound and style. Check out the colorful, fun and fabulous looks of rompers and dresses in Solange's video for "Sandcastle Disco" and then check out the slideshow to see how you can adopt her look into your own everyday wardrobe!
