Move over skinny and slim-cut, wide leg trousers are coming through! Rework your wardrobe this fall, because, believe it or not, there's a backlash against those skinny and slim-cut silhouettes that have been walking the runways and streets for the past few years. And it's not just me noticing this resurgence--Elle Creative Director Joe Zee includes this fall fashion must-have in Elle's Fall A To Zee Trends, hailing this style as the 'New Pant.' Stealing the hearts of designers and fashionistas alike, these pairs have full silhouettes and slouchy looks that exude smart style, and if fashion were a religion--which often times it seems to be--you could say that I'm a convert. And If you're feeling especially preppy or playful, choose a pair of pants packed with pleats like these ADAM pleated wide leg pants or these Alexander Wang pleated baggy pants. Now, I know many of you are questioning how flattering can these pants actually be, or how you can wear the slouchy look with out becoming a slouch yourself, but rest assured--with these designer duds straight from the Hive, you'll be the wearing the pants- they won't be wearing you! Go to Elle's A To Zee Trends to see Joe Zee's pick, and take a peek at my favorite trousers from the Hive in my SLIDESHOW!

The best thing about fall is not the changing foliage or the return of football season, but the chance to finally break out the fall wardrobe. And whether they're leather, suede, ankle, or tall, nothing says fall like boots! But if you're anything like me, you can't last the whole day with high heeled boots on. So I've picked my favorite 5 flat yet stylish boots that will get you ready for fall and allow you to run after the bus! Like this super slouchy pair or these glam over the knee boots. Hive 5: This Summer, Preppy Meets Downtown

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Jul 29, 2008 8:22 AM PDT
The preppy, 'I summer in Nantucket' look reinvents itself every season, falling somewhere between Lilly Pulitzer and Ralph Lauren, but this season, it's taken a new turn. As the perfectly put-together, overly polished look wanes in favor of a slightly (or more) rumpled one ever so popularized by the likes of Mary-Kate Olsen and Lou Doillon, stylishly in-the-know folk are taking the look downtown, knocking it around a bit, and then casually forgetting that last button when they clean it up. It's a deconstructed polo, a slouchier take on the striped tee, a less conservatively cut sweater, a plaid skirt paired with beaten up old leather boots.. or in today speak, it's Gossip Girl, plus practicality, minus the excessive layering. Scuff up those pristine Jack Purcells and take a look at my SLIDESHOW of five nouveau-prep styles.

Celeb Fashionspiration: How YOU Can Get Leighton Meester's ...

In stark contrast to the prim and proper style that defines Blair Waldorf, her character on the mega hit Gossip Girl,Leighton Meester seemed to be channeling the laid back, easy-chic style of her fictional frenemy Serena van der Woodsen on a recent shopping trip in NYC. Wearing an airy boho Jill Stuart maxi dress (by far the biggest trend this season), slouchy hobo bag by celebrity favorite Rebecca Minkoff, gladiator sandals and large shades, Leighton's boho look is fun, flirty, carefree, and the overall perfect summertime style. Check out my SLIDESHOW to get the look.
