Hot In The Hive: Philosophy Winter Escape Set

What is it about festive drinks like hot apple cider and eggnog that gets me into the holiday mood (even when the unseasonable 70 degree weather outside is really betraying my pre-Christmas spirit)? No matter what the forecast, one sip of hot chocolate and I'm instantly transported out of my uncomfortable heels and straight to the ski lodge, all warm and cozy in a Snuggie (or not). But what's even better -- now you can enjoy the yummy winter-warmness of the season even in the shower! Philosophy's Winter Escape Set comes complete with a trio of peppermint hot chocolate-themed products: shower gel, lotion, and lip shine, all wrapped in an adorable winter cottage box. Sure, it's not the same as drinking cocoa by the fire (I'm pretty sure downing this won't taste good), but lathering up with anything cocoa and marshmallow-scented, paired with the comfy steaminess of your shower, is probably the next best thing! The set also makes a super cute gift to anyone who loves at-home pampering!

Don't be embarrassed. So you like to indulge yourself in some tunes while showering -- no big deal. Who doesn't? Now, with the TearDrop Waterproof iPod Speaker, you don't have to rock out a cappella while you wash, and your roommates won't have to hear your out-of-tune vibrato echoing through the paper-thin walls of your apartment. The speaker's cute teardrop design simply unscrews to open, offering a sturdy perch for your iPod (of almost any make or model), and encloses it in a safe and waterproof shell that will let you have your jam session in any splash-prone zone -- beach, pool, shower, kitchen, etc. Just try not to have too much fun while you're washing dishes in rhythm with the latest Britney single -- save some water for the whales!

Hot In The Hive: Text Talk Vinyl Shower Curtain

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm one of those people who will put a smiley face at the end of most sentences. I just like to think that I'm putting a lighthearted touch to my email or chat message that would otherwise be mistaken as sarcastic or mean. Lately I've been feeling that the smiley face I use =) has been getting a little stale. Besides, there's only so much I want to smile at. Since I do my best thinking while in the shower (singing too!) getting the Text Talk Vinyl Shower Curtain is probably the best way to add to my emoticon repertoire. This large shower curtain is made of eco-friendly PEVA material and features a wide variety of emoticons I didn't know existed. Now I can add things like a yawn |-O or a smooch :-* to clarify my meanings via email, text or chat even more!

    Price: $14.99

Six Ways To Make Your Beauty Routine More Eco-Friendly

    image

Love the planet? Having spent centuries of using and abusing Mother Earth, it's time for humans to start rethinking their normal daily routines. We know it's important to conserve, but so is being beautiful! Start your day off on the right foot by being Earth-conscious throughout your morning prep and it won't only be the planet wanting to thank you for your thoughtfulness! With these helpful tips, you can be the bio-vixen this planet needs and still turn as many heads as you would if you were to get all gussied up the old fashioned way!

    1. Good morning, sunshine! You wake up in the morning and head to the powder room. First off, preservation is key. Sometimes it can be as simple as drawing a little light into the bathroom from the windows or candles (a.k.a mood-lighting)! Morning breath's a killer, so you might want to take care of that first. All-natural toothpaste on an all-recycled toothbrush makes for an, all-in-all, eco-friendly mouth. Next, your pores will probably want in on the planet preservation action, so treat them to an organic and fresh facial wash, like this one from Nude Skincare, and if you're skipping the shower, follow it with a toxin free moisturizer, like this one from Philosophy.

Hot In The Hive: Animal Shower Caps

If you ever had to share a bathroom with your family or roommates, then you know it's hard to tell things apart. Don't get me wrong, I'm close with my family, but I don't want to be that close if you know what I mean. So you've color coded your towels, stitched a name tag on your loofah, and labeled your shampoo bottles with your name everywhere, but what about your shower cap? Those clear plastic shower caps everyone has may do a good job in keeping your hair dry, but they don't really differentiate themselves well. That's why I'm so glad I found these super cute shower caps from Urban Outfitters! Choose from animals from a toothy hippo (our fav!), cute panda, menacing shark, and more. Buy one of each for everyone in your household and still have something leftover for your monthly hair color treatments. And I wouldn't be surprised if you start hearing the Jaws theme song or funny animal noises the next time you pass by the bathroom.

Ring Those Wedding Bells With Stylish Invitations

Have you or your friends been surprised this past holiday season with a proposal? If so, allow me to extend my congratulations and an offer to help find the perfect wedding invitations! While many people ooh and ahh over wedding dresses and accessories, I have an affinity for well-designed invitations. Whether it's a modern solid-colored invitation or a classic 1920's French art nouveau-inspired invite, I love them all! For those of you on a tight budget, I recommend looking on Etsy for small independent designers who can make your custom invitations at a fraction of the cost compared to those fancy schmancy places. On an even tighter budget? Paper Source has plenty of DIY options that just take a little extra time and effort. For more wedding invitations that will never fail to impress, click the slideshow!
