Hot In The Hive: Too Faced Lip Bronzer

    image

Just because summer is drawing to a close, it doesn't mean you need to ditch your fab summer glow and banish all your tan-enhancing products to their train-case storage. In fact, there's one place that might have been neglected by your bronzing beach days -- your lips! While the idea of a tan is certainly summery, the bronze-y shimmer of this Too Faced Lip Bronzer is completely fall festive. The tropical flavors and scents may have you nostalgic for poolside days of your recent past, but the three pretty golden-based shades and skin-soothing conditioners never go out of season! Plus, as a compulsive buyer of all lip gloss, especially shimmery versions of natural hues, I can't help but be on board for this sun-kissed take on the nude lip!

    Price: $17 each

Shimmering Makeup Shades For Just A Dash Of Summer Sparkle

    image

When it comes to summer beauty, it's all about strategically playing up certain features that pop -- and what better way to give your beauty look plenty of star power than with a touch of glitter? Now I know what you may be thinking: no, I'm not trying to make you channel Adam Lambert or force you to relive your preteen days experimenting with roll-on glitter gel and butterfly clips. Sure, shimmer isn't exactly for the wallflowers, but when applied with a modest (and steady!) hand, it's a bold beauty risk that pays off on any day of the week (not just on Halloween)! To avoid glimmer overload, stick to sparkling only one feature at a time -- whether you opt for dazzling lips or shimmery cheekbones -- and keep the rest of your face matte and minimal, for the most part. Over-doing the shine everywhere and anywhere may have you looking too much like a "Dancing With The Stars" contestant, even without the sequined salsa gown to tip you over the edge of what is considered wearable (and sane). Summer Beauty Picks To Keep You Fresh-Faced And Flawless On ...

Summer weddings are beautiful, with the blue skies, lush greens and thriving flowers. The outdoors are alive-- what a perfect setting to dedicate yourself to your life-long love! Embrace the season and play up summer's zest with a beauty regimen that will put you in steep competition with the ravishing landscape. There are, however, some things to caution with such a fruitful time of year, like the heat that can turn a bride from stunning to sweltering. Oil-free foundations are a must, as are formulas that are light and airy to let your pores breathe. However, sometimes light and airy is synonymous with flaky, non-lasting makeup, so you'll need some of these dependable picks to last you on your ceremony of a lifetime. In the heat of the moment, you'll need a moisturizer first to start off fresh (oil-free of course), followed by a primer to make everything stay all day. A summer wedding is code for flawless skin, so you'll want to play up your skin tone with the some sunshine accents. More importantly, you'll want to brighten up without upstaging your skin with too much color splashing other areas of your face. While you'll want shimmer and bronzer to brighten your base, you won't want to get too bold with autumnal plums or merry reds sprinkled on your eyes and lips. For your eyes, soft summer colors will certainly be staple items in your makeup bag: you'll use those to match your wedding theme's color composition. Don't let the lips overdo the statement your skin is making either by choosing a natural, more matte look that will make your lips a kissably-soft surprise for the leading man. Any color like Stila's Long Wear Lip Color in Darling (Golden Champagne) would be a perfect fit. If you must be bold with color, choose a nail color with some botanical bite. When it's all said and done, the beauty picks in this slideshow will make you an amazing summer queen!

Shine This Holiday Season With Frosty, Shimmery Makeup!

Every girl likes to add a little more sparkle to her makeup during the holidays! And why not? The key is to not make yourself look like you should be hanging next to that tacky metallic ball on the Christmas tree! Think subtle shimmer, not big specks of glitter. Also, it's best to stick to one feature to glimmer up, like lips or eyes. Try out this crazy shiny Dior lip gloss or this Laura Mercier frosty cream eye shadow. If you're following the mineral makeup craze, pick up Bare Escentuals Feather Light Mineral Veil - it's a fantastic finishing powder that has a slight shimmer and works on all skin tones. And don't forget your body - pouf a little Benefit Kitten on any patch of bare skin to complete the look! Check out the SLIDESHOW for our picks from the Hive, and have a little fun with frosty makeup this holiday season!

Elle's Fall A To Zee Trends: Golden Girl

Looking to add some sparkle to dreary fall days? A touch of gold can do wonders, but don't think you're limited to heavy jewelry and blinding metallics. Forget excessive sequins and shine- this season, gold presents itself a bit more softly, with undertones that shimmer rather than reflect. The result? A muted shade similar to champagne, with a dusty, matte-like finish. Statement shoes are given a twist of elegance when done in rose gold, while a watch in a subtle shade doubles as jewelry that can be worn year-round. A dusting of gold shadow on the eyelids instantly brightens the complexion, and a light gold nail color is a subtle alternative to clear or pink tips. In the market for a gold handbag? Try a bag in a dusty shade like Yves Saint Laurent's 'Besace' messenger, and you can be sure the shine won't burn out before the season's end. Go to Elle's Fall A to Zee Trends to see Joe Zee's picks, and check out the slideshow for more golden finds.
