Ever wish you could have a private butler awaiting your arrival when you come home from work? Just to take your coat and your keys. Well, assuming you haven't earmarked some of your budget for butler-related expenses, the wall-mounted hand hook may do just the trick! Sure, this polyester resin cast of famed industrial designer Harry Allen's hand won't ask you how your day was, but he'll lend a hand anyway. Available at Elsewares.com, this hook is sure to be a conversation piece for guests. Better yet, the price is right - at just $75, you may want to install a Wall-Mounted Hand Hook in your hallway, bedroom, kitchen... well, anywhere that's handy!

Get Organized In The New Year with These Clutter-Reducing Tips!

Is your New Year's resolution to organize your closet, your house, your life? If the things around you in your everyday life are in order, you might find yourself with a more orderly mind as well. So we've found some great storage items to help you reduce the clutter in your home - and maybe add to its beauty at the same time! Look for furniture that does double duty, such as a trunk-style coffee table in which you can store magazines and books. Put clothing you don't use year-round under your bed and out of the way. Hang CDs and DVDs from a door with a media rack. Save space with shelves that lean against the wall instead of a bulkier bookcase. Or put up photos on an interesting wall shelf from West Elm. You're sure to clear up space and clear your head. Check out the SLIDESHOW!

Hive 5: Sneaky Stylish Storage Solutions

    image

There are people who don't hold onto things, who donate clothing right when it goes out of style, and who refrain from holding onto precious memorabilia. I am not one of those people. I have always struggled parting with clothing, books, old toys, shoes, ticket stubs, seashells, even fortune cookie fortunes. My (clutter-phobe) father has difficulty understanding this compulsion of mine; he loves uncluttered counter tops and minimalistic rooms. And after a few years of living/studying/eating in cramped college quarters, I too am beginning to understand the beauty of minimalism. All of my "stuff" made my already small room almost unbearable. Cutting back on this excessive behavior is definitely a work in progress, but I recently came across some items in the Hive that made both the hoarder and the minimalist in me smile. Storage solutions that let you hold on - without worrying about cramping your space! These modern solutions are either hidden or camouflaged, and they all promote a clutter-free existence. So check out my SLIDESHOW for five awesomely inventive sneaky storage solutions!

Home Poll: Which Crazy Bookshelf Will Hold Your Summer Reading?

    image

For some, summer reading means a stack of new books (and possibly a poolside vacation on which to finish them). For others, it means cool new furniture to hold said books. The Hive's full of bookshelves, some crazy and some less so. Stylehive member AuntBee has hived not one but TWO super cool shelves, and since I couldn't possibly decide which one's cooler on my own, I'm leaving it up to you.

Hive 5: Today's Top Stylehive Finds Pay Homage to Mommy Nature

Today۪s Hive finds cite the Mother of all Mothers as their muse. Pulling inspiration from nature, the West Elm d̩cor, the Karic & Galehr jewelry, and Gemnorde necklace are wonderfully raw, yet playful. And a Frock tunic dress and Yves Saint Laurent messenger bag are perfect accomplices. You'll be so moved that you run out into a field and lay in it all day. I did.

Home Style: Transform Your Piles of Books Into Design ...

    image

If you're a voracious reader like yours truly, your house is probably equally overrun with mad piles of magazines and books. Though I like that "library" look of walls of books, I still want our home to have an uncluttered modern look. So, what's a book lover to do? Hunt out cool shelving units that will display your books in new and interesting ways...like these attention-grabbing floating shelves from Umbra or the fabulous vertical shelf from West Elm! Another tip? Group books by the color on their spine - the blocks of color will add a great pop to any room! Check out my SLIDESHOW for more unique shelving ideas.
