Video Style Steal: Alicia Keys Is Sad But Sultry In "Doesn't ...

Alicia Keys has quite a lot of success under her belt for a woman at 28 (but then again, what else would you expect from a girl who was accepted into Columbia when she was 16?), with her shelf full of Grammy awards and four chart-topping studio albums. Aside from her musical growth (and ascending movie career), we've also seen quite a progression in her hairdo -- from neat braids to unruly curls and now sleek and straight in her latest video, "Doesn't Mean Anything." But her hair isn't the only thing that's polished and chic. In a sparkly tunic, Alicia is classy as usual, and while she may be mournful and lonely in the video, I know I'd be much more cheerful if I had a hot pair of stiletto boots like hers! Check the slideshow to see some Alicia-inspired looks from her latest hit vid.

Video Style Steal: Black Eyed Peas Take Fashionistas To ...

The recent Black Eyed Peas singles are overplayed enough for you to notice that their latest album is much more "futuristic"-inspired than their past party anthem compilations. And if you're just about fed up with hearing the repetitive beats of "I Gotta Feeling" and the laser gun sound effects of "Boom Boom Pow," you might be relieved that the third single, "Meet Me Halfway," is considerably easier on the eardrums. But don't worry -- just because the relatively low-key tune isn't exactly a club banger doesn't mean it lacks room for drama. The video features the four members isolated in separate parts of the solar system, each looking for a way to reunite. For example, Fergie seems to be stranded in a long-lost dimension that resembles the set for "A Midsummer Night's Dream," decked out in a shimmery fairy princess gown. While the video wardrobe is pretty fantastical, you can still take a cue from their futuristic concepts to form your own modern explorer and fairy-inspired ensembles, thanks to the funky stylings of Fergie and Will.I.Am. Watch the video to get some intergalactic insight, then check the slideshow for some wearable wardrobe pieces!

Halloween Costume Pieces And Accessories You Can Actually ...

In your quest for the ultimate Halloween costume this year, you have a few options. For one, you can spend $60+ on a kitschy packaged costume that at least 10 other people will also be wearing... and chances are you'll never touch it again. Secondly, you can go the clever route and piece together your own costume.. and after a dozen trips to a handful of stores and hundreds of dollars later, you'll have the best Halloween ensemble ever... that you'll probably never touch again. But the most appealing option? Door number 3: piece together your own super-cool costume from stylish pieces that you'll actually wear way more than once! Even the most wearable trends are largely inspired by very costume-y themes: gladiator, biker, cowgirl, etc, so why not be resourceful and concoct up a costume while making a fashionable investment in the process? Channel a retro-chic flapper girl with a fringe miniskirt that can translate to a very modern night on the town, or don a sequin blazer for a cabaret/showgirl-type look that will be still be way "in" in the months to come. For more costume ideas featuring wardrobe pieces that will still be trendy even after the 31st, take a look at the slideshow!

Vintage Fashionistas Seize The Day In Sequins

    image

'Tis the season for sequins! These little dazzlers aren't just for evening or holidays anymore. They're popping up everywhere for fall and yes, they can absolutely be worn during the day. But to avoid looking like a Las Vegas showgirl, you might want to keep a few tips in mind. First, dress 'em down. Make one sparkly item your focal point. Think a sequin vest with jeans and a tee or a sequin cardigan with a tank. Then choose matte accessories. Sequins add enough shimmer and shine to an outfit so pick boots, bracelets and bags with a flat finish. And finally, keep shapes uncomplicated. For day, sequins work best on simple shapes like classic tees and shifts. Now just click the slideshow for a dazzling array of fabulous vintage sequin finds!

Whoever thought sequins couldn't be minimalist never came across the designs of Sophie Hulme! Directly out of design school, the Brit started her own line for Fall '08. After a few seasons of gaining steam, her wares are now sold around the world and online at Revolve Clothing. The line fuses together masculine, minimalist cuts with some girly flash. Military-style anoraks and bomber jackets are dripping in sequins that totally up their glamour factor. The collection is punctuated with cool utilitarian accessories as well. Quilted backpacks and sequined harnesses as well some limited edition jewelry add to the "boyish with flair" charm of the line. Each piece of clothing also comes with a special trinket that changes every season. The purpose, you ask? After a few collections, you'll have enough to make your own Sophie Hulme charm bracelet. Check out the slideshow to see some of the line!
