Trendy Tie-Dyed Pieces That Don't Look Like You Made Them At ...

What is it about tie-dye that seems to just ooze summer spirit? I don't know if it's the bright colors or the fond memories of wringing out freshly-dipped t-shirts on the backyard lawn, but I was always secretly rooting for a tie-dye comeback that didn't look too homemade or too hippie. As if the almighty trendsetters read my mind (it's about time!), tie-dye has been sprouting up all over the place -- high-end and affordable retailers alike -- in every place imaginable, from shoes to shades! While stereotypically the print has always been associated with peace signs, flower children, and campy arts and crafts, this season it's keeping it casual with thong sandals and dressing it up in the form of sexy minidresses. Still not convinced? Take a look at the slideshow and see for yourself how today's tie-dye has gone from hippie to hip!

Figuring out what to wear on that nerve-wracking first day of school is nothing short of, well, nerve-wracking. Sartorially speaking, your clothes make the impression before you do, so yes, what you wear does matter. Leave it to Marc Jacobs to make this decision a little easier! Come August, he'll introduce his "Don't Miss The Marc" back-to-school capsule collection, a fun mix of printed and solid clothes and accessories that all retail for less than $200. Younger fans (and the adventurous, I suppose) will spring for the printed leggings and graphic tees while longtime devotees will appreciate knit blazers and denim skirts at prices easier to swallow for students, or just anyone who wishes they were! Look for the limited edition collection in Marc stores and online at Bloomingdales.com on August 1st!

Men's Fashion Tips: When To Save

With the beautifully warm and cheerful summer weather now well underway, you want to look cool and casual for days on the beach or barbecues with friends. Here are a few tips on where to save, yet still look stylish for summer. Simple cotton t-shirts in bright colours work wonders for any summer outfit. Adding a splash of colour atop a pair of tailored shorts or linen trousers can really add a nice flair to your look. Whilst graphic design t-shirts can often cost a pretty penny, a plain coloured option is friendlier on the wallet. The added bonus is that rather than relying on the print as the main focal point of your outfit, a simple colour play can look great. Make sure to choose a lighter colour, whilst keeping in mind which colours work best for you. For the rest of this article and more fashion and style stories, click over to HauteMimi.

Get Your Designer Fix For Under 50 Bucks

The Frisky on Jun 16, 2009 3:14 PM PDT
If I could spend my afternoons purchasing D&G dresses, Hermes ceramic bracelets, and slick Theory blazers, I would never frown again. Since I can't afford to do this, I have resorted to flipping through magazines to get my fashion fix. But while I love spending time with my closest companions (Vogue, Marie Claire, and InStyle), they always leave me unsatisfied, tempting me with glossy pages full of fancy frocks I can't afford (while I feel deserving of designer indulgences, my piggy bank feels differently). This dilemma inspired me to put together a list of designer duds for spoiling myself without any guilty feelings. No matter how deep my pockets are, I should be able to dabble in a little designer fun (and of course, you should too!). Read More at theFrisky.com.
