The Salvatore Ferragamo brand is well known for well-made and stylish shoes, but one should take a closer look at their amazing selection of handbags. Add a dash of drama to your daytime ensembles or evening outfits with these fabulously feminine Salvatore Ferragamo shoulder bags! The Mini Vara Capra ($1550) and Mini Vara Capra Small ($1490) are shoulder bags with the added sweetness and drama of a grosgrain bow on the chain and leather straps. The bags are both made out of leather but the pleating detail gives it the look of satin-y fabric. Both bags are accented with nickel hardware and feature adjustable shoulder straps. They'll easily transition into nighttime when paired with your little black dress and smart coat. Want to know more about these amazing Ferragamo bags? Click over to our friends at Splendicity!

Kick Around In A Pair Of Loafers This Summer

    image

The fail-safe shoes known as the loafers haven't changed much over the past 10 years. They are simple, masculine and may be great for warmer weather, but these classic shoes are appropriate for year-round use. Loafers are one of the most effortless pieces of footwear a man can have in his wardrobe. I mean, all you have to do is slip them on and go. It can't get any easier than that. I am proud of my sole pair of Ferragamo loafers. In fact, they are one of my most coveted items in my closet. I keep them in a fireproof safe in there. They are uncomplicated, black and are beautifully constructed (what pair of Italian shoes aren't?). If Ferragamo isn't your cup of tea, go for the classicism of Gucci horse-bit loafers or the modernized Johnston & Murphy tassle loafer. But if you're one of those guys who want your feet to get attention, opt for the blue Cole Haan penny loafers or the zest of Ted Baker's Aglio loafers. Need something a little more flashy, yet subtle? Bottega Veneta has some basket woven kicks for you. Then there is the whole issue on whether to go sock-less when wearing loafers. There's no crime in showing some ankle, but if you're like me and have an irrational fear of going nude below the ankles, Banana Republic has the perfect remedy: no-show loafer socks. Here are some other loafer ideas to kick around.

To coincide with the recent 80th anniversary of Ferragamo, the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art mounted an ambitious commemorative exhibition. The gorgeous accompanying catalog, SALVATORE FERRAGAMO: Evolving Legend 1928 -2008 (Skira Editore, 2008), features fascinating archival photos, sketches, and drawings, exploring company founder Salvatore Ferragamo's design process - which melded painstaking construction techniques, comfort, and wildly creative design. Most of the Hollywood glitterati of the day were fans, including Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo, Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn, and Marlene Dietrich. The catalogue also includes contributions from the exhibition co-curator and director of Florence's Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, Stefania Ricci, Samuel Kung (chairman and director of MoCA Shanghai), and Wanda Ferragamo, Honorary Chairman of the company and the wife of the late Salvatore. Always a favorite of royals - and 80s icon Prince - rich jewel-tone purples make a stellar statement in beauty accessories and fashions this fall. Reign over your own stylish kingdom in sugarplum, eggplant, and lilac-tone ensembles. Deeper purples are a fun yet still sophisticated alternative to your everyday black staples, and shimmery lavender makeups and fabrics become almost iridescent at night. Best of all, there is a huge selection of purple-toned fashions, accessories, beauty items, and more now available in the Hive! Like this pair of bold yet practical Christian Louboutin boots. The purple patent leather screams drama, but the kitten heel is all about comfort. This adorable plum-toned leather clutch would add subtle color to your favorite fall ensembles. And this violet pull-over is an excellent alternative to grungy sweatshirts, and perfect for crisp fall nights. Check out Elle's A to Zee Trends to see Joe Zee's picks, and click on our SLIDESHOW to see our favorite examples of this trend, straight from the Hive.
