These canvas sneakers are simple, affordable and awfully cute. Perhaps the most appealing element to Keds is how versatile they are: you can rock them with almost any item of clothing. Pair them with some boyfriend shorts, like The RVCA Boyfriend Short or a high-waisted pair like The Denim Blue Hi Waisted Shorts by Rojas, and eyes will be following you for miles. Virtually any top will look dope with Keds, but a sweet checkered print like The Picnic Top by Harajuku Lovers or a cropped top like The Varsity Jock Cropped Sweatshirt by Wildfox are perfect summer staples for these light-weight shoes. Even dresses look effortlessly stylish with Keds, like The Plaid Hooded Dress by Luxirie, and not only will you look great but you'll feel ultra comfortable too. Good Girl Gone Bad: 10 Floral Looks That Aren't Quite So Nice

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Jul 13, 2009 10:21 AM PDT
If you don't pay much attention to fashion, certain trends can appear confusing. That floral dress/leather jacket combo? Cute, but misleading. Sure, floral dresses are feminine and dainty, but leather jackets send forth an entirely different message, and so the untrained eye is left wondering just what was going through your head when you got dressed, which could be any of the following:

    a) You feel the need to wear elements that together create juxtaposition.
    b) You don't want to look too sweet or too tough, so you combine the two and look confused.
    c) You were cold.

Or maybe it's none of the above and I just completely over-analyzed the entire scenario (oops). But given that unexpected pairings are what make fashion so captivating, there's nothing wrong with sending a totally confusing, what-on-earth-is-she-wearing message from time to time, and with all of these embellished floral pieces I've been seeing, sending that message is easier and more stylish than ever-- think studs, zippers, chains, and buckles wreaking all sorts of havoc on the sweetest of florals. Rag & Bone's Spring/Summer 2009 collection said it best with a black leather/silk floral sheath dress that was equal parts feminine and fierce. Click on the slideshow for 10 more floral pieces that aren't interested in playing nice.

Get That Mary-Kate Tough-Chic Look With LD Tuttle Shoes

Like funky footwear? Then its time to discover LD Tuttle shoes. Tastemakers like Natalia Vodianova and Mary-Kate Olsen have already been seen sporting the avant-garde shoes all over town. Designed by Tiffany Tuttle out of her Los Angeles studio, the line has been a fashion favorite for a few seasons now, and Tuttle's designed shoes for RVCA by Erin Wasson and VPL by Victoria Bartlett. The Ivy League-schooled designer decided to pursue fashion and went back to school for a graduate degree from FIT. Working for Givenchy in Paris and then for Rebecca Taylor, she realized her love of shoes and jetted off to Milan to learn the craft. As a former ballet dancer, she understands and has studied the shape of the leg and arch of the foot that helps her create the most flattering shoe possible. Now she turns out shoes that have a raw yet refined tough girl edge. The spring collection will meld perfectly with the season's tough-chic fashions, or punk up even the most prim of dresses. I'm just dying to get my hands on the 'spectre' open toe boot. Check out the slideshow to see which LD Tuttle shoes are your favorites!
