    WhatsWear Trend Alert: Simple Makeup

    image

Today, it is all about going au natural. Gone are the days of heavily done eyes and foundation. Makeup is no longer meant to cover skin, but complement it. Less is more and subtle is the way to go for spring/summer 2010. Instead of dramatic eyes, opt for just mascara and a highlighter in the corners of your eyes for a light and refreshed look. Swap out your foundation for a light bronzer. Heavy makeup will never stand up to the heat. A notable example of trend could be seen on the Miu Miu runway at Paris Fashion week. Models were done up in natural makeup, leaving little to the imagination. They even skipped the bronzer!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Doo. Ri

Doo. Ri has always been known for soft, fluid fabrics and innovative, but completely wearable designs that showcase modern twists on classically feminine styles. Using a sweetly somber palette of creams, blues and metal grey tones, designer Doo. Ri Chung edged out her designs with tiny chain and mesh overlays. There was a large variety of dresses, skirts and short shorts that featured details such as clever draping, soft, fluttering tiers, origami-inspired pleats and, as the trends have predicted, high hemlines to show off long, tanned legs for the next spring and summer seasons. Doo. Ri presented a collection of sexy and modern dresses and skirts that still manage to be alluringly feminine. See more from Doo. Ri at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week in the slideshow!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Narciso Rodriguez

Narciso Rodriguez strayed away from the structured look that he's presented in seasons past and opted for a more fluid look that comfortably hugged the female form for Spring 2010 at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. His signature structure was still apparent through interesting details, including mesh cut-outs as well as pleats and gathers and contrasting colors. A seriously sophisticated color palette of blacks, whites and nude neutrals were complimented with iridescent eggplant purples, dusty reds and grey tones. The collection overall felt like a minimalist revival punched up by daring billows of fabric, transparent details and modern trends such as a bubble mini, asymmetry, and innovative prints and tailoring. Simple, looser fit dresses showed nonchalant luxury while slightly exaggerated silhouettes and lots of legs gave his collection a more edgy vibe. Take a look at the slideshow for more from Narciso Rodriguez!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka is well known for their classic lines, luxurious fabrics and to-die-for detailing that makes the wearer feel like a statuesque goddess. Their Spring/ Summer 2010 runway collection at New York Fashion Week lived up to this high reputation. Simple, clean lines served as a feminine and flattering basic backdrop for silky rich materials and a luxuriously chic color palette of black, white and grey, punched up with deep reds and saturated hot pinks. Tiered ruffled skirts, meticulous pleating and contrasting colors gave sophisticated classics a modern twist, while floor length bias-cuts and sensual draping oozed elegant sexuality. Silhouettes were subtly Asian-inspired and metallic golds and silvers were used to add a little edge. Check out the slideshow to get a glimpse of this gorgeous collection for yourself!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Max Azria

Backstage at the Max Azria show, there was a poster up on the wall which read: "Be Strong. Be Confident." These commandments definitely came to life on the runway, both in the attitude of the models and the amazingness of the clothes. The Max Azria Spring/Summer 2010 collection merged clean sophistication with a rebellious attitude. Dresses crafted from crepe, chiffon, and silk georgette were slashed and deconstructed, as noted in the program, "to reveal the understated beauty of clean lines and sleek sophistication." The pared-down palette got an occasional kick with flashes of delicate beading and metallic cages. While this collection was heavily dress-oriented, there were also some incredible separates thrown into the mix. I especially loved the silk georgette beaded tops. While I loved pretty much every look, the final few really sent my heart aflutter. There was a long white-crepe deep-V dress that was so sexy yet so elegant, a black crepe slash dress that was too hot to resist, and two beaded numbers (one in white, the other in black) that were so stunning, you'll just have to see for yourself in the slideshow!
