Black And Blue and Chic All Over

Wearing blue and black together... how can you? Isn't that that one of the number one fashion faux-pas? Slowly but surely all of your grandma's old fashion cliches, like not wearing white after Labor Day and not wearing blue and black in the same outfit are quickly being thrown to the way side -- and not a moment to soon. Take your basic black and turn it into something way beyond boring by adding shot of bright blue. A Prussian blue top layered under a sleek black jacket and some tailored menswear-inspired trousers give you a look that goes right from the Gucci runway to your office. With holiday party season coming up, stand out of the crown with an LBBD, a little blue and black dress. Add a skinny blue belt to any old black dress, or even better, add on a blue and black necklace or scarf and you're good to go. Looking to splurge a little? Get "Mad Men"-sexy with Proenza Schouler's t-shirt bustier dress that is the perfect combo of girl next door-style t-shirt and a va-va-voom bustier dress. However you wear it, being black and blue is no longer a bad thing! Check out the slideshow for some more ways to hit the trend.

Celebs Are Loving Super Short Long Sleeved Mini Dresses!

Every since Christophe Decarnin sent his fembots down his spring and fall runway shows in minis with sky high hemlines and long sleeves it seems like celebs can't get enough. Blake Lively has been spotted in a seriously shoulder padded black sequined number and Sienna Miller rocked a majorly distressed version in gold at the party for her Broadway show "After Miss Julie." But its not just Balmain that's playing the long sleeve mini game. Chloe Sevigny's been out and about in new designer Kimberly Ovitz's nude bandaged mini and Alexa Chung looked perfectly minimalist in red Calvin Klein. One thing is for sure, all of these dresses have dangerously high hemlines, but the more conservative, covered-up look on top keeps it balanced. I mean mom always said to cover up, right? Runway Inspiration: Embellished Tights

I have never met an embellishment I didn't like. From loads of crystals on a plain old tee to a fully jewel-encrusted mini dress, I'm definitely guilty of loving all things sparkly and shiny. As if the jeweled trend couldn't get any more popular, we now have bedazzled legwear. Armani and Miu Miu gave us socks and Doo.Ri, Ungaro and Zac Posen showed tights that were beaded, jeweled and printed to perfection. They're a great way to upgrade some of your already stellar fall looks with a rather small investment (this is, unless you've got your sights set on the pair shown at Miu Miu... those will set you back $435). Cynthia Rowley makes a great pair of jewel encrusted black ones, or if you're feeling a little rock 'n roll, a pair covered in studs. Or check out Coco Rosa's blog for DIY tips and check out her etsy shop. Check out the slideshow to see all the fancy legwear you'll need this winter.

Heidi Klum Will Host The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!

We're almost a bit surprised that Heidi Klum is hosting the Victoria's Secret fashion show instead of modeling in it. Of course, she did just have a baby a couple weeks ago, but you know how Heidi is. The last time Heidi Klum had a baby, she decided she still wanted to walk the runway in the Victoria's Secret fashion show. But this time, she just doesn't think she can do it. According to Heidi, "The last time [I gave birth], I had two months, and I don't know if I have that much time this time... It was pushing it the last time. But if I don't make it, I'm sure I'll be very sad." So, even though Heidi will only have weeks between giving birth and the fashion show this year, she still wants to be a part of it. And obviously hosting the show is a really big part of it!

    WhatsWear Trend Alert: Simple Makeup

    image

Today, it is all about going au natural. Gone are the days of heavily done eyes and foundation. Makeup is no longer meant to cover skin, but complement it. Less is more and subtle is the way to go for spring/summer 2010. Instead of dramatic eyes, opt for just mascara and a highlighter in the corners of your eyes for a light and refreshed look. Swap out your foundation for a light bronzer. Heavy makeup will never stand up to the heat. A notable example of trend could be seen on the Miu Miu runway at Paris Fashion week. Models were done up in natural makeup, leaving little to the imagination. They even skipped the bronzer!
