Stylediary Style Steal: Get Lloydazindy's Preppy Summer Look!

    image

While the oft-quoted saying "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" is usually used more in sarcasm, I like to think that it's true in fashion. After all, we don't live in isolated bubbles, so we get our fashion inspiration everywhere from the runways to the streets. Celebrity style is one thing -- who wouldn't want to take a look at their amazing, albeit expensive closets-- but StyleDiary is a great place to see what real people are wearing all around the world! From Manila, Stylediarist lloydazindy has been chronicling her style since 2005. I admired one of her latest outfits which is perfect for a casual office setting or hanging out in a park. With a simple varsity cardigan and totally of-the-moment liberty floral print skirt, lloydazindy takes preppy chic to another level. Get her look by clicking the slideshow and be sure to follow lloydazindy on Stylediary!

Avoid Winter Accessory Overload With A Hoodie Scarf!

When you want to brave the winter chills outside, you may put on a hat and scarf, and while it may not always coordinate, it will at least keep you warm, right? Well, why bother worrying about mixing and matching when you can have a hat and scarf in one piece! I'm talking about hoodie scarves (scarves with hoods) that will keep your head and neck nice and cozy. Some hoodie scarves even have pockets so you might even forgo your mittens or gloves! This thick hooded scarf by Eugenia Kim has a futuristic sci-fi feel to it. Meanwhile, the ubiquitous circle scarf from American Apparel can be worn a dozen ways (or more if you're really inventive). Take a look at the slideshow for more hoodie scarves that will keep you nice and toasty all winter long.

Studly Style Staple: A Pea Coat!

    image

I have a very special attachment to my pea coat €“ and an even more special story to go with it. About four years ago, I was living in Austin as a struggling freelance writer (I was also an engraver at that store Things Remembered). I had been looking for the perfect pea coat for over a month to complete my gentleman wardrobe. I was about to give up €“ until I entered one of the local vintage stores right across the street from the University of Texas. I was drawn to a rack of coats in the back and as I sifted through them, I saw it: a perfect, authentic black pea coat. As soon as I saw it, I knew we were made for each other. I put it on and it fit perfectly. Without thinking, I took it to the register and she said, "It'll be $40." I reached into my pocket for cash and I only had $35. Thinking I had failed again in my pea coat hunt, I said, "I don't have enough." The beautiful boho-chic girl behind the register smiled and said, "You can have it for $35 €“ it's no big deal." From that moment on, my pea coat and I have been inseparable €“ at least in winter time. That said, every gentleman should have some sort of pea coat that they connect with. Whether it's a classic one from J. Crew, a sleek and modern variation from Oak, or a dandy creation from Spiewak, choose one that fits your personality, but at the same time, keeps you warm. Check out the slideshow for more examples of this winter staple.

Winter To Spring Wardrobe Transitions Made Easy!

    image

I don't know about you, but I hate shopping for warm weather clothes when it's still freezing out. Shopping for spring and summer clothes just doesn't have the same appeal when I know I can't wear them immediately! If you're in the same boat as I am, keeping reading because I've figured out some easy ways to bring your current winter wardrobe into spring. For starters, take a look at this cashmere sweater dress. Wear a t-shirt and tights under the dress for a winter look and then bare your arms and legs come spring time! A zebra print cardigan is a great layering piece for the chilly weather, yet also makes a great lightweight outerwear piece during the hot months of summer. For more transitional pieces that will take you from winter to spring and beyond, click the slideshow!
