The
Rubin Singer Fall/Winter €™08 collection was inspired by Fritz Lang€™s 1927 silent film
Metropolis, which follows a maiden who is captured and turned into a robot, effectively captured by the models all sporting the same jet black futuristic wigs. The collection clearly reflected a darker, grittier time: dark colors pervaded this runway and the intense precision of the cuts and silhouettes gave the collection a very serious vibe. Each look was paired with patent stilettos, exuding that "I€™m a tough chick so don€™t mess with me vibe,€ but in an incredibly sexy, provocative way. Towards the end, however, the mood softened and we saw come color creep in, as well as looser, less binding silhouettes.
