Spring is the time when blossoms start blooming and leaves unfurl and the whole world looks happy, lively and oh-so-pretty. These attributes can easily be transferred to your own closet with the help of feminine ruffles and rosettes. A long time staple of bridesmaid dresses and prom gowns, frilly ruffles and rosettes are now being used in a whole new way. Still cute and girly when added to a flared skirt, or a simple sheath, ruffles and rosettes can now also be found adorning something as basic as a cotton tee, or as a way to add a sweet side to an edgy pair of heels. So whether you're more the 'girl-next-door' sweetheart, or the edgy chick full of unique personality, you'll find a way to work these feminine embellishments into your spring and summer wardrobe. As the weather gets warmer and the carefree days of summer are almost here, it's no surprise that the stars have been lightening up their looks as well. Don't get me wrong- I love seeing the beyond edgy frocks that some are known to sport, but sometimes there's nothing more appropriate than lace and ruffles. Of course, past the age of six they're not quite so easy to wear- let's see if these celebs hit the right style notes. Mariska Hargitay donned an off-the-shoulder gown with cascading ruffles at the 2009 White House Correspondent Dinner, Jessica Biel was poised in an asymmetrical dress and soft waves at a screening of "Easy Virtue," and Lydia Hearst looked ready for tea in a vintage-looking lace dress with rosette appliques at Modern Bride's "25 Trendsetters of 2009" Awards Dinner.
