Dress Like A Rock Star With Denim Of Virtue

    image

Inside all of us is a rock star waiting to get out -- a leather jacket-toting, torn-up jeans-wearing, utterly fabulous rock star. Thanks to Denim of Virtue, the time has never been better to embrace this inner desire. This rock star image was the first thing that came to mind upon viewing the Denim of Virtue collection. An array of distressed jean selections, each one was more stage-worthy than the next. The denim even comes in varying levels of distressing, catering to a wide variety of consumers. There's the subtle collection, boasting boyfriend, skinny and wide-leg jeans with only a hint of wear-and-tear. The second is the moderate collection, where skinny jeans show more tailored signs of distress. And finally, there is the extreme, where 90s punk rears its head in the form of carefully placed holes that decorate skinny jeans. Video Style Steal: Kelly Clarkson Proves Our Lives Would Suck ...

Kelly Clarkson has already marked 2009 as the year of her comeback with her record-breaking new single "My Life Would Suck Without You" and her upcoming fourth album "All I Ever Wanted" due out this March... and I'd say it's about time! Our favorite American Idol winner has slipped under the radar for a year or two, and we single folk have certainly missed her solid girl-power singles (there hasn't been another liberating breakup song to belt out the car window quite as satisfying as "Since U Been Gone") and soulfully poignant power ballads to get us through those romantic rough patches. And in her absence, plenty of new female performers have stepped up to the plate to both fill in the void on the charts and serve as our fashion muses -- such as Katy Perry's naughty pin-up girl style and Duffy's jazzy throwback feel -- but there just hasn't been any other performer to do the casual-yet-chic rocker chick vibe justice quite like Kelly can. While some Clarkson critics may say her new song lyrics seem strangely self-sacrificing and sunny compared to her previous ex-bashing persona we all knew and loved, her video for "My Life Would Suck Without You" shows that even though her bitter lyrics may have sweetened up a bit, she's still got her playful-yet-empowered edginess and sophisticated rockstar style, not to mention tons of hair-whipping energy to boot. With lots of layered jewelry, the right cropped blazer, and the legs to pull off a pair of shiny leggings as pants, you can put your own spin on both Kelly's power-performer style and her joyriding girl-next-door get-up she rocks in the video. Take a look at the video yourself, then check the slideshow to see how you can channel Kelly's kick-ass comeback looks- no stylist needed!

The collection paid homage to the legendary Diana Vreeland, who DVF notes €œtaught us we could be goddesses and rock stars.€ Vibrant prints, perfectly structured suits, body-con sweaters, bondage-like wide leather belts, brilliant color pairings that pay no mind to the rules of coordination, shimmery sequins - it was all about an anything goes attitude and not being afraid to be the brightest and boldest gal in the room. Accessorized with slouchy handbags, firm wooden heels, and organic accents like colored stones and bright jewels, the DVF Spring €™09 gal is ready to rock.

Colors: Orange, Purple, Magenta, Marigold, Blue.
