    Influential International Style: Victoria Beckham

    image
kate napleton on May 21, 2009 2:21 PM PDT
Victoria Beckham, or Posh, as she was first introduced to us as a Spice Girl, has been renowned for her fabulous fashion sense since the mid 1990's, overshadowing her music and acting career (Spice World, anyone?). She's worked the catwalk for Cavalli, and has been the spokeswoman for Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs, not to mention starting a very sucessful limited-edition denim line, VB Rocks, for Rock & Republic. Last year, her full line debuted during New York Fashion Week to much critical, not to mention commercial success. As for her fashion sense, Beckham has a few golden rules, and recommends dressing "virginal sexy." As the sky-high-heel and minidress proponent said to The Independent last year, "It's great to make a statement now and again, but try and stick to a few classic guidelines. I always think if you're revealing lots of cleavage, you should have your legs hidden. Or if you want to show some leg, wear a jumper dress on top. Don't let it all hang out; it's much sexier to leave a little to the imagination." Check out my slideshow for ways to adapt Posh's style to your wardrobe! Photo credit: PR Photos

It's been announced that Roberto Cavalli has launched a like for pets. Obsessed with his pooches, he wanted a way to honor man's best friend the only way he knew how-- by making doggie couture! The collection, which includes satin-trimmed doggy bathrobes, velour tracksuits, and a flashy little puffer coat, is designed for small and medium-size dogs. Accessories include patent leather collars, leashes and even a quilted patent-trimmed dog carrier that retails for $1,200. In true Cavalli style there are lots of animal prints, sequined touches and hefty price tags. Starting at $110 for a t-shirt and up to $1,200 for a dog bag, would you buy these designer duds for your pooch?

It's been said that you're supposed to get five servings of fruits a day. So, that means wine counts, right? Well, wine-not? The world of wine is so big and high society's taken it to such a labyrinthine level it could boggle your brain. Wine enthusiasts have paved the way for both fellow winos and casual drinkers alike with some very inventive gadgets to help you enjoy your favorite fermented grape juices! In fact, fashion designers like Christian Audigier, Juan Carlos, and Roberto Cavalli have jumped on the wine band-wagon. While, yes, your favorite Ports are important, the point here is to accessorize! Mama always told you not to play with your food ... but technically wine's not a food. So let's play away with wine gadgets galore and see a taste of such trinkets in the slideshow!

KEVA by Keva J Swimwear Is Stylehive's Next Big Thing!

It takes a pretty incredible collection of swimwear to get me (and many others, I presume) excited about bikinis and bandeaus in the middle of winter. Meet Keva Johnson, whose year-round, endless passion and excitement for swimwear has easily rendered her line KEVA by Keva J one to watch in the coming year. With funky yet functional styling, edgy, high-fashion cuts, and influences ranging from New York City to Rastafarian culture, it's safe to say the Brooklyn-born designer is full of surprises! Her philosophy is clear- she says "Fierce. Edgy. Unique." is at the essence of her swimwear- and after one glance, it's easy to see why, though I've definitely been fixated on her entire Spring collection for some time now! I spoke to Keva about what attracted her to swimwear, her favorite designers, and the other areas of fashion she plans on exploring. Read on to see what she had to say, and check out the slideshow for swimsuits unlike anything you've ever seen.
