  Alyce is rowdy housedress reflecting the style sense of 1956. This sexy silhouette is stitched in red and white mini cotton seersucker gingham that gives the fabric a natural stretch. The dress buttons closed assymetrically over the left side with large red buttons. This seam as well as the wide collar, turned up cuffs and patch pockets are piped in red cotton. Alyce's square neckline is enhanced with a bias square at its base. The bodice has raglan sleeves and the skirt is made up of 3 gores. This is dress will please both husband and wife.

  This dress’s silhouette is derived from an illustration found in a Montgomery Wards catalogue from 1935. Mercedes is stitched in navy and grey silk crinkle crepe that is ubiquitous for this period. The bodice has a “V” neckline and darts under the bust. The midriff is two gores and houses a pyramid of ascending godets framed in grey. The sleeves are two tiered flutter style and utilizes both the navy and the grey fabrics in the dress. There is an attached sash to shape the waist. As unlikely as it looks, this dress takes 9 yards of fabric to complete!

  Peggy is one of reVamp's most popular designs. This charming dress is a quintessential representation of dress design during the early to mid 1950s. Peggy was based on a vintage pattern from 1954. The dress is a study in bengaline. The majority of the dress is stitched in cadet blue bengaline with black morieé bengaline contrast. This shirt-waisted dress has flattering sweetheart neckline and raglan sleeves with turned up cuffs. The collar treatment is unique due to its unusual shapes that frames the neckline. Peggy's four gore skirt has oversized patch pockets. The dress is finished with two-tone halo buttons and belt.

  This elegant coat frock was based on a vintage pattern from 1954. The coat frock, which is a dress that reads like a coat, begun its popularity in the 1920s and reappers in the 1950s. While both decades have an interpretation of the coat frock, the silhouettes couldn't be more different. In the 1920s, the fashion trended toward androgynous silhouettes that minimized the accentuation of female curves. An excellent example of the 20s coat frock is the April. As you can clearly see, the 1950s celebrated the female form. This ultra feminine design is flattering to most body types as it has a princess line. The lack of a seam dividing the bodice from the skirt is particularly flattering to longer waisted as well as curvy bodies. The Eva is stitched in black bengaline. The center front panels flow into the sailor collar which is framed in braiding also seen along the back seams. This dress has slender three-quarter sleeves and velvet buttons at the front and on the collar.

  The Rosalind ensemble consists of four pieces: slacks, skirt, jacket, and blouse. The Rosalind blouse was recreated from a vintage pattern from 1944. It has many interesting components. The front of the blouse has double fisheye darts on each side that create a smooth shape while tailoring the blouse to the body. The upper portion gathers into a small shoulder yoke. The sleeves have four darts at the top that create a straight line from the shoulder and is supported with a set in shoulder pad. The base of the sleeve has a small tuck. The blouse has a shaped, self collar and four black floral button closure. The Rosalind blouse is stitched in a creme cotton voile with tiny blue and olive stars.

However, this would have been appropriate for a performance on stage or for screen. The pleats in the front and back are top stitched near the waist for a smooth line and then left untacked for added fullness. The shorts have a 1" waistband and are stitched in black, satin-backed, rayon-acetate, faille crepe. Thay also have a zipper at the center back.
