    Go Bold With Red Lipcolor!

    image
Ida Hsiang on Jul 16, 2009 5:24 AM PDT
Red lip color is all the rage for fall beauty, and the range of reds covers everything from the subtle to the bright and daring. There's a lot of mileage in being bold with this look - after all, if you're going to go for red, you may as well really go for it instead of just doing it half way. Luckily, many bold reds are available in drugstore brands that won't break your budget, like L'Oreal, Almay and Cover Girl, as well as classic luxe brands that have added staying power like Dior, Nars and Chanel. This Purminerals lipstick, for example, will only set you back 15 bucks, and in a color like Madrid Matte Bright Red, there's no chance that your lips will go unnoticed. Who Can Pull Off A Bright Red Pin-Up Girl Pucker?

Forget shimmery beiges and glossy nudes! According to some of today's most beauty-savvy starlets, the chic trend in lip color during this almost-summer season is a punchy red-orange pout to match the red carpet they're treading on! With accompanying curly locks and sometimes even mile-long lash extensions to boot, it seems like young Hollywood fashionistas are taking a page from the old Hollywood glamour book and channeling some of their favorite pin-up poster girls in a way that's both classic and hip. While Katy Perry is no stranger to cranberry lipstick (topped with cherry chapstick, no doubt), other lippy ladies like TV bad gal AnnaLynne McCord, Katharine McPhee, and Evan Rachel Wood are less about the retro-glam gimmick and more about making a bold yet risky statement with their racy kisser. Bright red-orange lips may be a vivid look, but that doesn't mean it suits everyone! Vote below on who looks the prettiest with a ruby pout. Photo Credit: PR Photos

Which Celeb's Red Lipstick Look Is Your Favorite?

Bold makeup is a great way to intensify your look if a bold outfit isn't your thing, and the best part is that a tissue solves all of your problems if you suddenly decide you took things too far. Can't really say that about the wacky shorts-tights-heels-oversized bow-adorned sweater ensemble I wore the other day, unfortunately. Moving on. Recently it seems that more than a few celebs are going bold in striking red shades of lipstick- Cameron Diaz at the AFI's Night At The Movies, Jennifer Lopez at the launch of her fragrance for men, "Deseo," and Dita Von Teese at her Wonderbra collection photocall, to name a few- and I want to know who you think did it best!

Hive 5: Spice Up Your Look With Red Lipstick!

I've come to the conclusion that it's time to play with makeup again. For so long, makeup has on a daily basis been used to make us look "naturally" beautiful. The "I just naturally look like this" act has been in play for quite some time and in my opinion needs to be retired for a while! The newest statement that is being worn for both day and evening makeup looks is a strikingly saturated red lip. Think of Dita Von Teese, pin up girls, and old Hollywood glamour as your inspirations. I've selected an array of stains, glosses, and lipsticks to give you as many means as possible to achieve your perfect red lip this season. Check out my SLIDESHOW to see just what I found in the Hive.
