Ha Ha Halloween: Outrageously Funny Halloween Costumes!

    image

Although no one ever seems to tire of the sexy devils, bumble bees, and bunnies skimping around town on Halloween, the outfits that take the prize are the ones that make us laugh. The guys always get me to smile with their kissing booths and giant banana costumes, but a girl with the confidence to goof around with her look makes a memorable impression! A route certain to turn heads is the creative one, and while they all can't be found in stores (like last year's Sarah Palin and Joe The Plumber), if you can cue in to some of pop culture's latest cover-story conundrums or recent icons (think, literally, Rachel Zoe), you're a goofy god. Sure to flaunt your funny bone, however, is a classic like some num-nums or a young one, and a slew of other clever, time-appropriate ensembles! Yeah, the overused pirate or pixie gear this Halloween will look cute, but nothings cuter than the gall of a girl who can walk around town wrapped in a giant gorilla hand.! Click through this slideshow to see some of the funniest costumes to goof about in this year.

Go Wild With A Faux Fur Vest This Fall!

    image
Anna Yu on окт 16, 2009 12:19 PM PDT
My favorite boho-chic models and celebs like Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and of course Rachel Zoe have all been seen throughout the years wearing fur vests. A fur vest is a fun trendy piece to keep around to add a little punch to an otherwise boring jeans and t-shirt outfit. I'm always tempted to buy one for myself, but I'm skeptical about the vest making me look chic rather than like a bulky Eskimo. It also doesn't help that I don't agree with buying fur when plenty of faux fur options are available. So I got to searching for animal and cruelty-free fur vests that look like the real deal and found tons at every price point. Trust Urban Outfitters to have a super shaggy fur vest for only $88. If you're looking to splurge, go for the Gryphon Rocker Vest with eye-catching metallic beading at the neckline. For more faux fur vests, check out my slideshow!

Runway Wrap-Up: Stylehive's Top 10 Looks From New York ...

Despite the mayhem that Fashion Week always brings upon us over here at the Hive, even from all the way across the country, we have to say we are a little sad to see it go. I mean, now what are we supposed to do? Sit around drooling until next spring when all of these gorgeous summery pieces finally hit the stores? In the meantime, we can take comfort in the fact that based on the designers' Spring/Summer collections, the forecast for next year is undoubtedly hot, hot, hot! Looking back on all of the runway parades we've covered in the past couple weeks, we can't help but notice the abundance of fun party frocks -- from Christian Siriano's tiered ruffles to Zac Posen's neon sheaths -- and the welcome resurgence of bright, cheerful hues (after all, what's more springy than color?) that seem to insist that high-impact shades are clearly going to be the new black! As for the late-night dance-floor hoppers, who can forget Whitney Port's designer debut with all of those slinky metallic numbers? And while the celebrity attendance record may have been abysmal (aside from the usual Anna Wintour and Rachel Zoe sightings), I'm sure the starlets will still be rocking these runway looks on the red carpet come spring! Take a look at the slideshow to reminisce with us over the Fashion Week highlights!

Designer Elite And Their Muses Shine At The CFDA Fashion Awards

    image

The CFDA Fashion Awards is one of the few red carpet occasions where A-listers not only wear their favorite designers' dresses, but actually arrive with their favorite designer linked to their elbow! And while the star-studded event, which took place at New York's Lincoln Center and was hosted by funny gal Tracy Ullman, was certainly dedicated to honoring fashion design's finest, the arrival parade highlighted both designers and their famous fans alike. Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, and sister design duo Rodarte were among the night's top winners, while celebrity-couturier pairings like Heidi Klum with Michael Kors and Claire Danes with Narciso Rodriguez, along with other solo arrivals, made the canopy entrance a stylish star-studded sight to behold. Take a look at the slideshow for some of the night's most notable attendees! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Who Demonstrated The Most Dreadful D-List Style At Bravo's ...

Bravo's 2nd Annual A-List Awards, hosted by Kathy Griffin and airing next Wednesday, might want to consider a name change. While its nominees boast undoubtedly elite names like Justin Timberlake (A-List Male Style), Britney Spears (A-List Artist Of The Year), and Zac Posen (A-List Designer), and other front-runners across the whole artistic spectrum, Paris Hilton was probably the closest thing to "A-List" the event's makeshift red carpet actually saw the whole night (yikes). While I couldn't help but be delighted by the sight of some of my favorite flamboyant Bravo stars, such as Top Chef's Fabio Viviani and the Millionaire Matchmaker herself, Patti Stanger, I actually couldn't help but feel bad for the paparazzi and their lack of interesting subject matter! If it made their jobs anymore exciting, however, some of the event's pseudo-celebrities and celebutantes looked laughably ridiculous in some ill-fitting garments and "what were they thinking?" ensemble choices. Aubrey O'Day surprisingly left her usual skin-tight hoochie dresses at home and opted for a dress that looked ridiculously too big for her in all the wrong places, and the expectedly stylish Rachel Zoe looked like some kind of creepy couture ghost floating down the carpet with her huge shapeless dress billowing in the wind. Vote below on which attention-seeking red carpet strutter looked the silliest! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Hive Q&A: Project Runway Castoff Just Wasn't Inspired Anymore

    image
Sabrina Newman on авг 28, 2008 3:31 PM PDT
Wait, WHAT?? Was my reaction to this week's challenge on Project Runway, a sentiment shared by the designers and viewers alike, I'm sure! Tim meets the group on the rooftop of a parking garage where they are presented with a lineup of five brand new Saturn Vue Hybrid vehicles. Chris Webb, lead color designer for Saturn, joins the group and explains that this particular model is 85% recyclable. No, they didn't have to break the cars apart (that's what I thought too at first!); rather, they were given a whopping four minutes to ravage through the contents of the cars which included: floor mats, seat covers, headlights, seatbelts, carburetors, air vents, and sun screens and so on, to use as raw materials. With the freedom to be as innovative and creative as they'd like and the limitation of using highly unconventional materials, the designers are off to work. Tensions ran high, last minute setbacks abounded, and the struggle to make it work reached new heights. However, they can't all be winners.
