It's always hard to dump someone. There are hurt feelings and harsh words, maybe a few tears, definitely some cocktails and desserts smothered in chocolate, caramel, and Oreo cookie crumbles. Well, get out the Edy's, Sephora. Everyone knows that Sephora and I (and Sephora.com) have been going steady since I was 15, but we're currently on the rocks. There's a new makeup store in my life, and its name is BeautyTicket.com. Yup, although Sephora was the love of my life, I just can't control my feelings for this much better beauty stop that recently rocked my world. But it wasn't just a one night fling; this is serious. I'm falling in love. This amazing website carries super great brands like YSL, Smashbox, Stila, Tarte, Urban Decay, and Pop, for up to 85% off. Wow. I'll give you a minute to think about how freakin' amazing that is. I'm talkin' Smashbox wooden 4-shadow/blush palette, originally $45, now $19.00. Check out some of the items featured by clicking over to our friends at CollegeCandy!

Hot In The Hive: Golden Sparkle Sauce

    image
Alex Gambardella on Sep 16, 2009 6:35 AM PDT
I know, the name sounds delicious... but you can't eat this sauce! Golden Sparkle Sauce by Pop Beauty comes in what appears to be a puff paint squeeze tube, but it's actually a powerful weapon in maintaining smudge-free eye makeup! The shimmery substance can be applied as a layer on your lid over shadow and liner to seal eye makeup for a twinkling waterproof finish, or it can be mixed with loose glitter or pigment to serve as a long-lasting adhesive for otherwise hard-to-apply loose powder. The result? Budge-proof shadow and liner with a little dash of extra dazzle. Sparkling magic in a bottle!

    Price: $10
Who Found It: xgalexy was the first to add Golden Sparkle Sauce to the Hive.

What Do You Think Of The New Britney Spears For Candie's Ads?

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Apr 2, 2009 2:17 PM PDT
The new Britney Spears for Candie's ad campaign has just been released, and all excessive photoshopping aside, she's looking good- if not a bit Barbie-like. I just have a feeling people won't even really notice the shoes she's wearing, which, along with the Candie's collection, will be available exclusively at Kohl's. The ad will appear in just one publication- Us Weekly- as a pull-out poster in the April 15th issue. The last time I saw a pull-out poster was in my copy of Twilight, and it honestly made me feel way old, but if you're nostalgic for the "Baby One More Time" era I suggest swinging by the newsstand in a couple weeks! One more thing: is this not the safest way to have your photo appear in a tabloid? Smart girl.

Wanna add a little something to your style? Turn up the volume with Katy Perry's loud look and accessorize your heart out! At the her concert at the Scala in London, the always quirky Katy put on quite a show with loud music and an outfit that was even louder! The playful fashionista pranced around the stage in a navy vintage dress paired with with the latest (and craziest) fashion accessories around. Katy wore funky plastic necklaces depicting a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses and a lollipop to color her look. My favorite part of the outfit was her floral patterned tights that have been dominating the runways and popping up on the legs of just about every girl! To top it off, Katy adorned her head with the ever-so-popular floral headpiece. So bump up your basics with a few accessorizing tips inspired by Katy Perry's look in my SLIDESHOW!

Hive Q&A: Latest Project Runway Bootee Says He Owned The ...

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Sep 25, 2008 4:05 PM PDT
As if being one of the five remaining designers wasn't enough pressure in itself, this week's Project Runway challenge had the final contenders stepping into a dual role- they would each be designing a look inspired by a musical genre. Their client? A fellow contestant. Time flew by as they struggled to play designer and model all at once, and the pressure manifested itself in all sorts of ways- Leanne embraced her hip-hop persona with a hilarious rap, Korto started feeling the country twang, and Kenley, despite being outfitted in a getup that was purely pop, had an attitude that was quite the opposite. When it was time for Heidi, Michael, Nina, and guest judge LL Cool J to weigh in, it seemed as if many missed the mark- some held back in their designs for fear of going over the top, while others decided going all out was what it would take to win. Kenley's frustrations flared, and Kors' comments were some for the record books- specifically towards Leanne's design for Korto's country persona ("It looks too much like a woman going out for ribs") and towards Suede's look for Jerell ("It looks like rock n' roll going to the grocery store"). In the end, the win went to Korto, whose punk look for Suede was the perfect balance of over the top and believable, and one unlucky designer saw that the outfit he created, while well put together, just wasn't enough. Read on for my exclusive interview to find out who it was.
