Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM Runway: Luli Fama

My first thoughts upon seeing this year's Luli Fama swimwear collection? Pageant bikini competition protestors obviously have never seen one of her runways! Decked out in fluffy sausage curls (sounds like something at IHOP, I know), plenty of red lipstick, and exuding the feminine confidence of Rosie the Riveter, the show's models were a perfect balance of girlie-sexy and in-your-face tough, putting a fresh new spin on the pin-up girl that frankly could probably kick your butt. The collection itself boasted a fun and flirty variety of retro prints like black-and-white polka dots with modern twists like neon ruffled trim.. and of course the looks wouldn't be complete without red pearl necklaces, giving the collection a sort of overall "June Cleaver lets her hair down" vibe. Bridesmaid Colors You Never Thought Of!

Maybe I've been to a lot of weddings, but I've seen more satin baby blue knee-length dresses than one girl ever should. Why are brides consistently drawn to boring pastels? Why not use your bridesmaid color to make a real fashion statement? Idea 1: Don't fear pattern. Maybe you could incorporate polka dots into more than just a cute bridesmaid dress, like this Ellen Tracy Polka Dot Dress. It could be involved in your place settings, even the dishes. Or try a drip-tie-dye dress like this Jones New York Hot Pink Ombre Dress. It gives just a little more interest than a typical bridesmaid choice. Idea 2: Metallics. Silver and gold go with everything, and will look great flanking you on the altar. Check out my slideshow for other fun bridesmaid color ideas!

Seeing Spots: Men Can Wear Polka Dots Too!

In general, men have always been wary of prints and polka dots aren't exactly on the top of every man's wishlist. Personally, I am all for polka dots. They have this child-like wonder to them, but you need to be wary when it comes to donning the dots. There is no gray area when it comes to apparel with polka dots. You have to either be really subdued or go all out. If you go for the former, you need to go big or go home- like the Marc by Marc Jacobs t-shirt. For me, I like to keep my dots very understated via my accessories. A pocket square from JoS A. Bank adds a bit of whimsy to a suit, while a Band of Outsiders skinny tie gives some urban dandyism. But whatever you choose, know when to say when. Don't dress in dots from head to toe- you don't want to look like a giant polka dot vomited all over you. Check out the slideshow for polka dots that won't send you to clown school.

Comme des Garcons For H&M Hits Stores TODAY!

The time has finally come! Comme des Garcons and H&M are giving us that one-two punch of polka dots and stitches that we have all been waiting for! The fall collection created by designer Rei Kawakubo is finally in stores. True to avant garde form, Kawakubo collaborated with the frugal retail store to create a collection of womenswear, menswear, accessories and a limited time fragrance. The collection includes everything expected from CdG, and more. Quirky, yet structured womenswear comes out in romantic jackets and polka dotted garb runs aplenty with finely tuned men's button down shirts. Too bad H&M doesn't sell online because I just know the entire collection would be sold out in a minute. My personal favorite is that dark and demented plaid suit with the diagonal stitch across the chest. I am going to be first in line for that. Check out the slideshow of the collection, and then rush out to your nearest H&M to snag some pieces before they escape from the racks!

Which Stylish Teen Queen Reigns Supreme?

A new generation of fashion-obsessed starlets are quickly taking over red carpets worldwide. Reigning teen queen Vanessa Anne Hudgens looked fierce even without beau Zac Efron by her side. She sported a trendy studded moto jacket with smokey eyes at London's premiere of High School Musical 3. At the same event, co-star Ashley Tisdale looked angelic in a jeweled platinum mini dress. And relative newcomer Selena Gomez appeared the most age-appropriate (she's only 16!) in a 50's-inspired dress at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party. These young and fashion-forward starlets are definitely eager to exchange their Disney backgrounds for designer duds, but which teen queen reigns supreme in red carpet style? Vote now!
