Going To Fashion Week? Be Ready With Our Survival Kit!

The New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 shows are almost here! Before we jump head-first into runway reviews, model sightings, the clothes, and everything else that makes fashion week what it is, we thought we'd bring you a little survival kit to help you through what is sure to be an exciting week! Whether you're from NYC or crashing on your cousin's couch for the week, or there for work or just tagging along for a few shows, there are a few key items you'll want to have on hand (and foot) to help you through the insanity.

Flip flops or flats. This sounds obvious but unless you plan on shelling out cab fare multiple times (or have a high pain threshold), you'll want to have a pair of flip flops or flats on hand. Whatever you do, don't wear your flip flops in the tents- switch them outside! One more blister is a trivial thing when there are aspiring street style photographers snapping shots right and left.

Camera. Again, obvious, but bring your charger or an extra battery. Camera dying mid-show = instant mood killer.

Food. Toss a baggie of almonds or dried fruit in your bag, because there isn't much in the way of food in the tents (so surprising, I know). This will keep you from stalking the people handing out samples of LU biscuits, and making return trips to the M&M booth, and the other booth with the mini macarons, and... okay, clearly I have no shame when it comes to freebies.

Get Organized For Back-To-School (Or Just Life) With A New ...

Every year when back to school season rolled around, I would vow to be a different, new and improved me. I vowed to always have my make-up done, my outfits coordinated, and my schedule organized. Yeah, right. I rolled out of bed with 10 minuted to spare and threw on whatever was clothes. I usually didn't have time for even mascara, and forget packing a lunch! One thing that I always did do right? My daily planner! I would go weeks before school started and start browsing bookstores and retail shelves, searching for that one daily planner that would contain me and all my plans within it in a neat rectangle while at the same time proclaiming my individuality and self-expression to the world through its cover art. I would fill out the information in my neatest handwriting and, for the next month, take the extra time out to jot down assignments or swim meets and weekend plans. Then, inevitably, I would forget to use it, fall behind on the dates, get frustrated and throw it under my bed for the rest of the year. It wasn't until I was a little older and out of school that I discovered the notebook. Ok, I didn't discover the notebook that late in life. I just realized that a large part of my daily planner refusal problem was the fact that the dates were already printed out for you in predetermined squares. While that might help some people, it discouraged me. I realized that a small notebook, lined or not, was what I actually needed. No pre-set dates that demand you to find something interesting to write in them (in case I ever lost it and some stranger found it, flipped through it and decided I was boring) and no pages allotted for random notes that, if you went over, you felt like a textual version of a blabber-mouth. The only thing that stayed the same? Browsing numerous bookstores to find the one that said, "Hi! I'm unique and spontaneous, but am also responsible and reliable!" So whether you prefer a daily planner to a notebook, check out our slideshow to find one that expresses who you are!

Looking For Your Dream Dress? Check Out Claire Pettibone's ...

Want to stand out on your special day in an awe-inspiring way? A look at Claire Pettibone's wedding gown collection will be sure to incite gasps from all who lay eyes on your majestic matrimonial vision. This Beverly Hills designer puts her best creative work into all her dresses, making each one a work of DaVinci-like proportion -- it's no wonder she's a daughter of artists! Her two collections, both her continuing and her new Rockstar Collection, feature gowns that seem non-traditional if only for their rare exquisite nature. Really, the classic feel any of her pieces are such a perfect pick that they'd be fit for royalty. The continuing collection, which looks more like a collection of costumes that could be displayed at a museum, is full of empire waists, embroidery, and gaud. Her new line is edgier, as the Rockstar name insinuates. Its contemporary nature makes it host to novel fashions such as short, unique dresses, but just as fine in origination as the time-honored looks. Take a peek at just how vintage and dream-inspired these pieces are by glancing through this gallery of Claire Pettibone's works!

Fresh Planners for the New Year!

Maybe I'm a huge nerd, but I think there's nothing more satisfying than starting a fresh planner come January. It might actually be my favorite part of the New Year (besides champagne and party dresses, of course). I'm a sort of devotee, so I'll be picking up this metallic aqua desk diary again this year. If you're not in such a long-term paper products relationship, I also love the Kate Spade canvas anne pocket organizer, which begs the question: can Kate Spade do any wrong? Check out my SLIDESHOW for lots of planners to time-manage in the New Year!

10 Planners to Organize Your 2008 Self!

If you sit outside of Starbucks on an average day, you're sure to come across a little routine that I like to call the cell phone-PDA-keys-iPod-latte juggling act. It usually takes place between that little table where you doctor up your drink and the car door, and you've probably performed it yourself, maybe even successfully. But no matter how skilled you are in that respect, you'll agree that we all carry way too many clunky hand-held devices on a daily basis...
