This season, J. Crew is featuring enough tartan & plaid - including strapless, full-skirted frocks and even full-on taffeta ballgowns - to outfit at least a couple full-scale productions of Brigadoon. Like a strong spice, a little plaid goes a looooong way, but matching shoes, belt & bags - especially with a dark jean or dark shirtdress - is a delightful way to try on the trend sans overkill.
