Leather Gloves Of All Lengths To Suit Anyone's Winter Style!

    image
Alex Gambardella on ноя 13, 2009 2:18 PM PST
If you've been procrastinating on gift shopping and instead have been stocking up on your own winter wear (hey -- a girl's gotta keep warm), don't forget to keep your digits protected from the cold too! For the wintry months ahead, leather is migrating from moto jackets to accessories and is starting to replace knits and cashmere in the realm of cozy hand-warmers. Fingerless gloves are all over the place (okay, so maybe they're more for fun than function) but you can put your own spin on the trend with studs or chains. Or, for an updated take on Old Hollywood glamour, opt for a longer pair a la Audrey Hepburn (though hers weren't luxe leather like these!). No matter what your style, you're bound to find your perfect pair among this season's varied selection! Browse through my favorites in the slideshow!

Lo Bosworth Dishes On Style And The New Season Of The Hills!

    image
Adriana Nova on сен 29, 2009 8:17 AM PDT
Lo Bosworth's most memorable quip about fashion may be "I have not found a cute white dress, like, ever. They're all trashy and tacky." This, of course, was spoken right before the screen cuts to a shot of Kristin Cavallari in a clingy sleeveless eggshell number (meow!). Die-hard watchers will remember that infamous scene from Season 1 of "Laguna Beach," where we were first introduced to much of the cast that now makes up "The Hills" milieu. Now, it's been five years... has Lo managed to ever find a decent white dress? "I have!" she laughed during our interview last week. "I just got a great white shift dress from Topshop that's beautifully decorated with little black beads all over it. White doesn't really do great things for me from behind, though." Her candidness and reversal of judgment demonstrate a lot about her. Loyal but level-headed, the Laguna/Hills star may have strong opinions but isn't inflexible about viewing them from another angle. It's that same distinct yet laidback quality that also marks her personal style, which I happen to love -- easy yet elegant. Her wardrobe must-haves? "I like to really combine high-end with low-end stuff, especially things that are more 'evening' with others that are more casual," she shares. "[My style] is a good representation of a lot of LA fashion, and fashion just in Southern California: jeans, an amazing leather jacket, and a great blouse, purse, and heels... it's a good look: casual and just easy." I also asked Lo about stylists (she doesn't use one and puts her looks together mostly on her own), favorite designers (Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Lanvin), and beauty obsessions (her new Shu Uemura sheer orange lip gloss). So will Lo, who's just been given FLING Chocolate's first-ever "Best Fling" honor for "her confidence in being naughty, but not that naughty," be getting up to any trouble on the new season of "The Hills?" "For the next few episodes of the show, you're going to see me moderating between a lot of people. I try not to get too involved in the drama and be the calm between the storms!" Let's see: that's "moderating," "drama," and "storms" all in one description. Yep -- sounds like "The Hills" is back! Tune in to MTV for the season premiere on Tuesday, September 29 at 10pm! New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: 3.1 Phillip Lim

It's no big secret in the Stylehive office that I'm a huge fan of Phillip Lim so of course I jumped at the chance to cover his fashion show! His latest collection shown at Fashion Week featured a red runway with mirrored backdrop which set the tone for the looks. The models were all business with a modern suit in a deep red double breasted jacket and matching shorts. Lim featured many menswear inspired looks including a grey v-neck sweater over a long silky button front shirt with a bit of a lacy slip peeking out. The 3.1 Phillip Lim woman of next spring may be all business, but they are well aware of their femininity too. Asymmetrical dresses with appliques on the bodice or a sheer lace crop top in chartreuse paired with a matching high-waisted trouser breezed down the runway. Odds are that we'll be seeing these looks again on the set of Gossip Girl or on the red carpet on the likes of Lim's celeb fans like Camilla Belle or Kate Bosworth. Beauty looks to be aware of are side-parted hair and strong eyebrows. Take a peek at my slideshow for some of my favorite looks from the show!

Shop Fall's Hottest Trend And Dare To Bare With Something Sheer!

    image

Sheer clothing always evokes a little bit of the '80s and also seems futuristic at the same time. Clothing with sheer insets and panels is usually considered to be a nighttime kind of outfit, but brands and designers like Alexander Wang and Free People have made sheer clothing a great daytime option too! From tops to even denim, it's easy to find this daring trend. For a subtle sheer look, check out the jersey sheath dress by Maggy London which has small sheer insets around the waistline. If you're feeling a little bolder try the boa burnout sweater by 3.1 Phillip Lim (with a nude bandeau bra underneath). Sheer clothing is definitely very sexy so don't overdo it with a head to toe sheer look. Click on over to my slideshow to see how you can incorporate the sheer trend into your wardrobe!

Leather Skirts for Fall from DvF and 3.1 Phillip Lim

I saw a leather miniskirt while shopping the other day and was instantly drawn to it, but instantly wondered if I could pull it off. I decided against it, but then-- while perusing the fashion pages later-- I came across a couple of gems which helps to quell my fears of leather. I love the pleated leather mini from 3.1 Phillip Lim; it is a take on the popular skater skirt silhouette. I plan to pair it with black tights and it will look great with platform ankle booties too. Another leather skirt that caught my eye is this leather pencil skirt from Diane von Furstenberg. It works perfectly for the office as well as for after work cocktails when paired with classic leather pumps.

Stars and stripes on the mind? Both are in style and together, they're what this weekend is all about. Chances are you already have stripes in your closet, but if you need some stars you could always check out Jimmy Choo's studded leather boots-- yup, interspersed among all of those studs are stars as well. Brilliant. Then, consider the planet as a whole and take a look at the latest from Phillip Lim. He's created an eco-conscious collection called "Go, Green Go" and really, who could say no to that? Plus stories on the steamy new Armani campaign, nail polish trends, at-home beauty treatments, and more! Check out what's happening this week in the fabulous world of the fashion blog-o-sphere!
