Go Bold This Fall With Oversized Jewelry

    image

Obviously a lot of us are trimming down the fashion budget in the interest of saving money, and outfits are pared down to the basics. So how do you dress things up without breaking the bank? Accessorize, of course. It's no secret I LOVE all things big and bold, so it's not surprising that I'm especially excited that this season oversized cocktail rings are all the rage. Personally I'm not much on necklaces, but I do love me some cocktail rings, so I've been trying to get a few pieces together to complement some outfits I bought for the fall and winter. I'm a big fan of this pearl-center flower ring by Kenneth Jay Lane, and this sparkly aubergine ring (also by KJL) is great for a little flash! Head over to TheFind for more ways to spice up your fall wardrobe!

These days I find myself buying more jewelry and accessories rather than another tee or cardigan- I'm out of hangers/space as it is. There's just something so carefree and appealing about wearing a great piece of jewelry with a simple outfit, whether it's a statement necklace, a scarf, or a standout ring- the addition really takes your outfit to the next level, and it's so effortless. Last week we told you about one such ring by Caesar's Designs- the sterling silver beauty boasts a cultured pearl center, is custom made, and is exclusively available on chickdowntown.com- how could you not want this ring? All you had to do to enter was tell us your favorite brand that chickdowntown carries. With so many, it's definitely hard to pick just one, but it was awesome to get to see which brands you chose. Want to know who gets a shiny new ring to wear all spring long? Click READ MORE to find out if you won!

There are a couple of ways to get jewelry for free. Many of these ways involve significant (or not so significant) others, but then you get into issues of questionable taste and *gasp* cubic zirconia and I don't know, feelings.... basically, it's messy out there. You're much better off simply winning it from Stylehive! This week we're giving away a stunning sterling silver and pearl ring by Caesar's Designs. This chickdowntown exclusive retails for $275 and is just too pretty to pass up! (If you've never been to chickdowntown, go to their page now- you'll never find better deals on women's clothing from your favorite designers!) With its detailed blossom design and 6 mm cultured pearl center, you'll want to wear this custom-made ring all spring long (and pretty much every other season too). Want to win it for yourself? Read on to find out how you (or that special someone) can enter!

Mrs. O: From Jackie to Michelle

With the arrival of the Obamas in the White House, all eyes are on Washington, and it's not just our new president who's capturing our attention. Michelle Obama is demonstrating a true flair for fashion, and her individual style is garnering more than a few fans. With simple lines and beautiful tailoring, she brings to mind another first lady and fashion icon. Already we can identify some aspects of her signature style: her penchant for flats, Erickson Beamon floral brooches, belted dresses, and complexion-flattering jewel tones and pastels. For anyone who was left in doubt of her stylistic prowess, her Michelle Obama's inaugural gown cemented her place among the other formidable fashion mavens who have graced the White House. Check out the slideshow to see some pieces that exemplify the new Mrs. O's wardrobe.

Bagtrends Is Loving Antoinette Lee's 'Mia' Handbag!

    image

We're in the thick of holiday season and with the beginning of Hanukkah and Christmas, we're kicking into overdrive. Do you have your holiday bag selections ready? If you're still looking for a fun option I recommend Antoinette Lee Designs' 'Mia' Bag. 'Mia' is the cool girl in high school - not the ponytail sporting cheerleader, but the edgy fashionista who was the first to forgo scrunchy socks and move onto mini skirts and grommet-accented bags. Not your classic clutch, the egg-shaped Mia can also be worn cross-body (ideal for the downtown chic hipster attending club parties). If you're considering the black, take a second look at the shimmering navy - it has a nice pop in person and a bigger wow factor than the black. Don't worry about space - you can fit makeup, a blackberry, a small wallet and even a camera inside!
