    Hive 5: Grunge-Free Plaid Shirts

    image

While the early-90's grunge look of baggy jeans and plaid flannel shirts has never appealed to me, lately I've caught myself doing more than a few double-takes on a similar style while out and about. Plaid shirts - the lumberjack style best associated with mountain men and the grunge-era - are definitely catching my eye. But the shirts that I've spotted lately aren't anything like their grunge-era cousins, this new generation of plaid shirts is hip, chic, and effortless. Don't believe me? Well check out some styles now in the Hive, like this ultra-cute white collared and cuffed plaid button up; it would look anything but shabby tucked under a pair of high-waisted jeans. Or how about this adorable red Steven Alan plaid shirt? I'd wear it open over a pair of black skinnies and some cute flats. Even if you're still skeptical about this trend, you've gotta' check out all of the plaid shirt styles now available in the Hive! Hive 5: Tuxedo Jackets Take Over Women's Formal Wear

Look at any red carpet event these days, and you'll be seeing more tuxedo jackets than ever before - and not just on the boys. Gone are the days when the structured tuxedo jacket was only to be seen on the date of the starlet attending award shows and premieres! Today the ladies are taking this suit component into their own hands. Seen on the likes of Ashley Olsen, Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Natalie Portman, this style is sure to stick around. Over a formal gown, with tailored tuxedo shorts, or paired with jeans, this style seems to have infinite possibilities. For the classic style suit up with Paul and Joe's "Edgarpoe" jacket. On the other end of the spectrum mix up the style with Cosa Nostra's innovation (Project Runway winner Jeffrey Sebelia's line). Make sure to check out the SLIDESHOW to discover where to buy these extremes and and everything in between! To see the style in action click over to Brittany Snow's Celeb Style Swipe.

Celeb Style Steal: How To Get Blake Lively's Romperific Look

    image

When you got legs that run for miles, you gotta flaunt 'em, and that's exactly what Gossip Girl Blake Lively did at the star studded premiere of The Dark Knight which she attended with on and off screen boyfriend Penn Badgley. Blake sported a studded Vena Cava romper and gave the look an added dose of glam with metallic Jimmy Choo pumps. While some may contest the chic-ness of the romper, I happen to love this style, if anything for the versatility. A black romper like Blake's is basic enough to be worn with sandals for day and can easily be glamified with some chic pumps and fun accessories for a night out. Check out my SLIDESHOW for 5 day-to-night rompers similar to the one worn by this leggy beauty.

This Spring You'll Be Wearing a New Color: Croissant?

    image

While bright hues are certainly welcome come spring, muted, neutral tones have emerged richer than ever and can bring an understated yet chic touch to outfits and accessories. The colors on Pantone's Spring 2008 Fashion Color Report are no exception, with 'Croissant' taking its place as one of my favorites. The shade is just as buttery as its name would suggest, so bring some balance to its smoothness with bolder, statement-making pieces in black, gold, or even red, or try adding a patent accent for a little edge. And don't even think about calling it 'tan' or 'beige'! More golden yellow than brown, this creamy, versatile shade is in a class of its own. See our slideshow for our favorite freshly baked fashions!
