Mila Or Jessica: Which Star Shined Brighter At The "Extract" ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on сен 5, 2009 9:22 AM PDT
While director Mike Judge is known for catering mainly to the "manly" demographic with male-dominated masterpieces like "Beavis and Butt-Head," "King Of The Hill," and "Office Space," the ladies certainly stole the spotlight at the premiere for his latest jaded employee flick, "Extract." And while the two brunettes are surely stunning in pretty much anything they wear, their metallic minidresses definitely helped amp up the otherwise lackluster red carpet! Mila Kunis, the film's leading lady, shimmered in a Matthew Williamson dress and grey patent pumps, while "90210" star Jessica Stroup was glitzy in a gold t-shirt dress from Notte by Marchesa. While we love seeing two contrasting takes on the metallic trend -- Mila's soft pastel and Jessica's flashy edge -- we just can't have two queens of the red carpet! And The Winner Of The Danielle Nicole Clutch Is...

Choosing a clutch or evening bag is tough. I mean, you hardly know where you're going to be on any given night, much less what you'll be wearing, so how are you realistically supposed to find a bag that will match a completely unknown situation? You could stick with basic black, because it's reliable and elegant, but honestly, it's a little boring (sorry black Lauren Merkin clutch sitting on my shelf, I'll make it up to you). You could pick up an excessively embellished number and stick to basic outfits to balance it out, but that's kind of restrictive. Or, you could throw caution to the wind and let us do the work for you and send you one! Last week we told you all about Danielle Nicole's gorgeous handbags and clutches, and offered you the chance to win the 'Gayle' clutch, a lovely pleated grey patent handbag that's as proper as it is playful. Want to know who's going to be carrying this pretty little thing around town? Click READ MORE to find out!

Danielle Nicole knows a thing or two about handbags-- the FIT-trained designer studied in Europe and held apprenticeships at Bergdorf Goodman, Gucci, Be&D, and Anthony Luciano before launching her own line-- but it's her underlying talent, one she's honed from a very young age, that keeps us coming back to her designs time and time again. Infusing classic styles with modern twists like crushed patent leather and French embroidery, she brings us refreshingly chic styles that truly set her work apart from anything we've ever seen. They're affordable too, with clutches starting around $150 and handbags topping out at $560. One lucky winner will receive the 'Gayle' clutch, a pretty grey pleated bag that's sure to be the star of your outfit, for free-- want that winner to be you? Elle Accessores: Waist Watchers

    image

The most recent issue of Elle Accessories showcases fall's top accessory trends, and "Waist Watchers," a selection of bold belts that you won't find just anywhere, is definitely one to watch. These aren't your ordinary belts- they're oozing with hardware and embellishments and will take your look from dull to daring in a flash. You can cinch them at the natural waist for a polished, feminine hourglass silhouette or sling them low on the hips for a cool, casual vibe. And belts show no signs of disappearing anytime soon, so it's a good idea to invest in one or two that will update your wardrobe and brighten your day. Why not buckle up one of Elle's head-turning picks instead of that old basic you've worn a million times? Don't miss page 151 of the mag for some eye-catching finds, check out our slideshow for even more, and conquer the holiday season with some brave new belts!

Bag of the Week: Tarah Smith's "The Yuppie" Handbag

I pride myself on being the handbag loop and knowing what/who is hot long before it hits the masses. In fact, designers often come to me for press writeups or a friendly tidbit before they reveal their goods to the editors at LUCKY, InStyle, etc. So, my bag-a-licious taste buds always perk up when I find something that's already out there. Designer Tarah Smith is a former model and founder of an earlier bag line called SMAK. She's also created handbag for Oscar gift bags. FYI I googled all of that because I had no clue who she was or what SMAK bags even looked like. Looking now at her new fall offering, I'm not only excited by the classy shapes and detailing (love the lanyard-esque handles and the buckles), I'm also flipping for the prices. Can you believe in today's word you can get this bag for under $400? Trust me when I say that it's not any easy task to find a bag at this price. If you own this bag or other Tarah Smith styles, I'd love to know what you think.

Stylediarist Spotlight: Juicygal Squeezes the Runway Into ...

    image
Sydel Sakuma on авг 6, 2008 4:35 PM PDT
A fantastical mixture of neon, metallics, and some very unique runway looks, Juicygal makes what most wouldn't even dream of wearing during the light of day, amazingly everyday-friendly. This Stylediarist is an obvious color (and Karen Walker) lover and is a hardcore print mixer. She has fun with larger-than-life plaid bows, brightly colored tights, even brighter flats and wedges, plus accessories galore! She borrows looks and pieces inspired by many different eras, especially from the 80's, and makes them uniquely her own. If you are looking for some fun ways to really wear color, you won't be disappointed. Find some of my favorite looks that she's concocted in the SLIDESHOW, and you'll see that this girl brings the party with her.
